Nonsense.
Most public schools simply don’t have administrations and communities that will support elite programs. It’s why community schools like WM and Zachary dominate the publics.
You could take the best players in Baton Rouge and put half of them at Broadmoor and Broadmoor will still be awful.
And it’s even more apparent in the smaller sports as those public schools don’t care at all about supporting those programs.

Just out of curiosity, what are the names of the Division I select football schools in Monroe and Zachary?
My theory...they aren't losing players to select schools because those schools don't exist in those communities. It is also why Hahnville, Destrehan, St. Amant, Dutchtown, and EA field pretty good squads on occasion. Those same schools, not surprisingly, also have pretty large enrollments. Maybe your theory applies to inner city publics, but I feel that I have more than illustrated mt point.

Zachary is about 15-20 minutes from Catholic High.
EA and Dutchtown are about 15 minutes the other way.
It’s about the same distance from Chalmette to Brother Martin or Jesuit.

There is basically no traffic between Zachary and CHS. That’s all La-19 and I-110

admin support and staff continuity... and being able to get kids to go to off season work outs...

Oh, so CHS won last year too? That’s why they’re scared?
If STM sucks compared to John Curtis, then so does Catholic. Y’all were extremely, extremely fortunate to escape with a win.
P.S. Nevermind. I was incorrectly addressing a comment that wasn’t even in this thread. I actually agree that Catholic was not scared to schedule STM.

Can add Episcopal, Dunham, and St. Michael to that.

It’s amazing that this is even a possibility considering that public schools are free.
You think the really good public schools around Dallas and Houston are losing kids to expensive private schools? Is it “poaching” if families and kids simply choose to go to better schools?
I’ve said this before but no one will ever say it publicly. The whole select/nonselect mess has very little to do with sports (it’s just how the problem has manifest itself) and everything to do with absolute disaster of most public school districts in LA.

Imagine how good Hahnville and Destrehan could be

Great RB. It sucks he fumbles so much though. I think he fumbled 3 times against Evangel and Im pretty sure I remember at least one against Longview. Wasn't there last night so don't know if he coughed it up any against Neville. I'm sure he get better at protecting it and if he does he will be an excellent back for WM.
I think he had one in the 4th quarter. I don't think it was on him though.
Looked like when the QB pitched the ball out on the toss-sweep, the ball was a little low.
The WM coaches on the sideline were getting the QB pretty strong after that play.

WM’s best RB is flying around the nation playing for Team USA. Not meant as a slight towards Williams. He’s been outstanding this year.

Kid can swing it. Wish he would end up at LSU, but he’s special. I don’t think that bomb he hit against Zachary has landed yet.

It is 25 minutes with NO TRAFFIC.
In the AM you are looking at 30-45 minutes, depending on which side of Zachary you live. I would imagine many parents are not going to feel comfortable with their teen commuting that far in city traffic. This would be the equivalent of a Slidell to St. Paul, Hahnville to Jesuit type commute.
So, unless you are telling that BR is suddenly "traffic free", then my point still stands (especially concerning Monroe).
At any rate, since you seem to be more knowledgeable about CHS, how many players do they have from Zachary. I can't imagine it being more than 1 or 2, max. I have been wrong before. If so, enlighten me amigo.
