man this feels JUST like 2009. Quality Road was heads and sholders better than everyone else that year and was scratched the morning of the derby muddy track that year, a 55 to 1 shot, Mine that bird won it in a year that i'm not really crazy about any of the fav's. it's going to be one of those years

No it doesn’t because Mine That Bird actually won the race and rode the rail.

The 2nd place finisher filing the objection is some of the pussiest stuff I've seen. They weren't winning but figured they'd get the horse they couldn't beat DQ. If other owners filed that got impeded with, that's one thing. But to act like they "won" is embarrassing. Reminds you of that clown Pete Carroll running around and jumping for joy when the moron refs blew that call against GB years ago.

I hope that owner/trainer is shamed forever.

Those of us who follow the sport know how close we were today to a catastrophe that would be a death nail considering the current state of horseracing. As unfortunate as the DQ was it was the right decision.

That's good to hear, because I felt like the NBC "experts" thought it was the wrong decision.

Amen

Can you imagine? Several would’ve gone down and that would’ve been it for racing.

They changed their minds after the decision I felt

If the sport survived the Breeders Cup deaths it would’ve survived the disaster that didn’t happen

It’s a different climate right now.

PETA has been given a seat at the table.
