Last night was about as good of a start to the year for State schools as you could ask for. A lot of teams were playing tune up games, but none of them blew them and Louisiana Tech went on the road and got a really nice win to start the season. Teams in action were 7-2 last night.

Emmitt Williams had a double double in his debut with 12 points & 10 rebounds. The Lions were led by Parker Edwards who scored 25 points in just 10 minutes of action as he hit 6 threes in the game. Moses Greenwood was the only other Lion to reach double figure scoring with 12 points.

Louisiana Tech started their season off with a big road win over Wichita State 71-58. DaQuan Bracey led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Amorie Archibald chipped in with 14 points & 9 rebounds.

ULM started their season off with a road win over Jackson State 75-66. Daishon Smith scored 24 points to lead the Warhawks who also got 15 points from Jontray Harris and 12 points from Michael Ertel in the win.

UNO took care of Springhill 95-66. Ezekiel Charles & Bryson Robinson each had 17 points to lead the Privateers who had 4 players total in double figure scoring.

Nicholls rolled past Mississippi College 86-58. The Colonels got big nights from Jeremiah Jefferson who scored a team high 28 points and Gavin Peppers who had 20 points & 8 rebounds in the win.

Northwestern State started their year off with a win beating Centenary 102-62. The Demons got 15 points out of Ishmael Lane and LaTerrance Reed while Vonte Ott contributed with 14 points & 8 rebounds in the win.

Southern lost on the road to Alabama 62-82. The Jags were led by Eddie Reese's 16 points and got a 10 point effort from Aaron Ray.

Roydell Brown is a name I forgot about. Also did some research and looks like the left-handed Ledoux twin transferred to La. Tech and the right-handed one is at UT-Permian basin.

Yeah I didn't realize Brown had landed at McNeese. If he's added to his game he could be a nice player.

I had to double check it was the same Ledoux twin when I was looking at the rosters for the preview.

We had three teams in action last night. All of the teams were out of the Southland and on the road against bigger programs. It was an 0-3 night, but not a bad effort overall from these squads.

Nicholls lost to Louisville 72-85. The Colonels were led by Jeremiah Jefferson's 24 points. Gavin Peppers chipped in with 14 points and Kevin Johnson had 11 points & 8 assists in the loss. Nicholls drops to 1-1 on the season.

It was a rough one for UNO as they fell at Northwestern 52-82. Only one player reached double figure scoring for the Privateers and that was Gerrale Gates who scored 10 points. UNO drops to 1-1 this year.

Northwestern State was defeated at SMU 58-69. Ishmael Lane was the only Demon in double digit scoring putting up an impressive 24 points & 13 rebounds in the loss. Northwestern State falls to 1-1 overall.

They were #7 in the NAIA preseason polls. They're 2-2 this year. One loss to preseason #1 & the other to #11.

ETA: Preseason polls were from October 23. Not sure where to find more current rankings. I don't know anything about their team, but I hope this info helps
