Great effort from Shapovalov. He looked finished early in the second set and still made it competitive. Too bad he can't play Cincinnati next week. The USTA idiots should give him a wildcard for the US Open, but those will go to slapnuts like Tim Smyczek.

So does Shapovalov have a tiny head or a huge hat?

I was wondering the same thing

only a matter of time til he breaks thru in a gs, if he wins today, he will have beaten both novak and fed in a matters 1000 event.

he and dom showing by far the most promise of the young gunners.

I'd hate to see Fed lose to a guy who can't gain weight or grow facial hair.

It's crazy to me that he's still the current favorite to win Cincy. Will he even play?

I thought Feds movement looked sluggish from the very start of the match.

I don't see smug winning the Open. I'm not hugely bullish on Rafa's chances either. I think we might get somebody outside the Big 4.

Taylor Harry took out Sandgren at the Aptos challenger quarters. Sandgren is now at 102. Keeps getting close to the line but can't get over.

Lol, Vika is not coming to Cincy and might miss US Open as she is fighting her baby daddy for custody of their 8 month old!

Decent little day for yanks so far:

-Tommy Paul continues to play great and make substantial ranking gains as he took out DY in some friendly fire
-Mitchell Krueger takes out dirty Frency Benwa. At first, I thought Mitchell Krueger was Mitchell Frank, the kid who played at UVA. Then I realized it wasn't him, which led to the realization that I had no clue who Mitchell Krueger was. But, hey, go Mitchell Krueger.
-Tiafoe took out some dude I've never heard of from Germany
-Friendly fire win for Sam Q
-Some guy named C. Eubanks, says my tennis ticker, is currently up in the first set against a dude from India. Let the record reflect that I don't know who either of these guys are, and I follow tennis pretty closely.
