I’m glad Blues are selling. Is the prospect any good?

Foley? I may be a little biased but I think he'll fit in on the 2nd line there in a few years. Tough player to knock off the puck, reliable defensively.

Penguins extend Horny.

quote:

@JMackeyPG: According to a source, terms of Patric Hornqvist's contract extension are five years, $5.3 million per.

quote:

@penguins: Rutherford on being close to re-signing Hornqvist: "Over my career, I've done very few contracts in the middle of the year. I think it says a lot about what Patric Hornqvist means to us to do this now... If everything goes well, the deal should be done tomorrow."

Forgive me if I'm ignorant to what players actually cost(I'm a Coyotes fan with a team full of Entry Level guys), but isn't 5x5.3 alot for a 31 year old averaging about 45-50 points?

Yes. It's not as bad as the 8x5.75 the Caps gave Oshie, but it is an overpay.

No deal on Karlsson is a letdown. And the Rangers were never getting Point, so I like their return. Three prospects, including a top level one, and two draft picks which both might be #1's if the Bolts win the Cup? That is a haul for a McDonogh, who is a step below the elite blueliners.

Not really, he offers a lot more than 45-50 points.

Plus he's already making 4.75m the last 2 seasons so it's not much more and his value has only went up.

His suggested deal before the season was 5 years 5.5-5.75 but he was expected to take a small home town discount to stay in Pitt and you arrive at 5.3.

I am really liking what I read about Foley. I like he has plays with an edge too just like Tkachuk. Some ESPN writer gave Blues a B+ for the trade. Blues didn’t have a #1 pick in the draft this year before this trade, so this trade fulfills that void too. There were a lot of trades within the division this year. Sharks made a good deal to get Kane too.

How bad do the Habs get embarrassed tonight? 5-1? 4-1?

I really like a lot of the moves today. I think Vegas and TB really got a lot stronger. Definitely worth it for them to try to make a push.

Jackets off to a hot start. Up 4-1 after 1. Ovechkin got beat up by Matt Calvert. And Calvert is getting a b.s. 10 minute match penalty because Ovechkin went down like a sack of potatoes after he instigated the action.

Tom Wilson took such a cheap run on Sedlak at the end of that period. Stunned he didn’t get called for it.
