re: 2016-17 Louisiana Universities & Colleges MBB Overview and General Discussion
Overall it was a winning weekend for state schools as the teams combined for a 7-5 record overall on Saturday.

LSU couldn't break out of their slump as they dropped another one to Arkansas on Saturday 86-99. This is LSUs fifth straight loss and drops them to 1-6 in SEC play.

Tulane also lost to Cincinnati on Saturday by a score of 61-78. Cincinnati is a good team so this outcome wasn't shocking, Tulane drops to 1-6 in the American.

Louisiana Tech kept their winning streak going as they handled North Texas 81-57. Louisiana Tech has now won four in a row and they hold on to their second place spot at 6-1 in CUSA.

ULL snapped a two game skid as they won at Texas State 79-73. The win puts the Cajuns back at .500 in the Sun Belt at 3-3.

ULM dropped their 6th consecutive conference game as they lost on the road to UT-Arlington 55-71. The Warhawks are now 0-6 in conference.

Northwestern St won the only in state matchup of the weekend as they beat McNeese in Lake Charles by a score of 78-65. Northwestern St has now won two of their last three to get to 2-4 in conference while McNeese drops to 3-4 in Southland play.

Nicholls lost at home to Lamar on Saturday 76-87. The loss drops Nicholls to 3-4 in the Southland.

UNO kept their good play going as they went to Central Arkansas and won 81-63. This win moves UNO to 6-1 in conference and keeps them sitting on top of the Southland standings.

Southeastern took care of Houston Baptist winning 83-71 in Hammond. Southeastern ups their winning streak to three straight games and improves to 5-2 in the league.

Southern pulled out a close against Alabama A&M winning 53-52. Southern continues to hold on to second place in the SWAC as they improve to 5-2 in conference.

And finally Grambling got back in the win column as they beat Jackson State by a score of 72-57. This win snapped a two game losing streak for Grambling and moved them to 3-4 in SWAC play.

re: 2016-17 Louisiana Universities & Colleges MBB Overview and General Discussion
There are 4 games involving state teams tonight.

ULL (3-3) stays on the road to face UT-Arlington (4-2). ULL tries to get a streak going after their win on Saturday night.

ULM (0-6) also stays on the road to take on Texas State (3-3). ULM is still searching for their first win in Sun Belt play.

Southern (5-2) is also on the road as they face Alabama State (2-4). The Jags have won three straight and try to make it four in a row.

And in the only game actually taking place in the state tonight, Grambling (3-4) hosts Arkansas - Pine Bluff (3-3). Grambling is trying to win their 2nd in a row and get back .500 in the SWAC. (This game is Saturday, I misread the Schedule.)

re: 2016-17 Louisiana Universities & Colleges MBB Overview and General Discussion
Last night was a rough one for the teams in action as they went 0-3. (I misread Grambling's schedule and they did not play last night.)

ULL got drilled at UT-Arlington 71-108. The Cajuns better start playing defense as this is the second time in the last three games that opponents have scored over 100 points against them. This loss drops ULL to 3-4 in the Sun Belt.

ULM also lost in the state of Texas as they went down 57-63 to Texas State. ULM is still searching for their first conference win as the loss drops them to 0-7 in league play.

In the other game, Southern had their three game winning streak snapped at Alabama State as the Jags lost 65-79. Southern is now 5-3 in the SWAC and in a three way tie for second place.

RPIs and records have been updated in the OP.

There's only one school in action tonight as Tulane (1-6) travels to Houston (4-4) to take on the Cougars. Both teams have lost their last three so someone will snap a losing streak tonight.

Southeastern is now at 16 straight home wins dating back to last season, which if I read correctly, is the 9th longest current active streak in D1.

I had no idea. That's pretty impressive. Trying to find a list of current home winning streaks to see where that places them, but having a hard time.

In the lone game last night, Tulane lost at Houston 51-65. This is the fourth consecutive loss for Tulane and drops them to 1-7 in AAC play.

I really don't know. I know they play in a pretty good conference and weren't very good last year, but I can't imagine people expected 4-16 through 20 games this year.

Haven't heard from anyone that follows the team closely in this thread.

There are two games tonight involving state schools including one in state match up.

LSU (1-6) hosts Florida (5-2) in the PMAC. LSU has lost their last 5 games and looks to pull an upset tonight.

The other game is between Northwestern St (2-4) and Southeastern (5-2) in Hammond. Northwestern St has won two of their last three after starting off 0-3 in league play. And Southeastern has a three game winning streak going and 16 game home winning streak going back to last year (hat tip to lionward2014 for that stat).

re: 2016-17 Louisiana Universities & Colleges MBB Overview and General Discussion
Last night saw state schools go 1-2 (one team had to lose as there was an in state matchup).

As stated above, Northwestern St went on the road and beat Southeastern 85-71. The win moves the Demons to 3-4 in Southland play and they have won three of their last four games. Southeastern had some streaks snapped (three game winning streak, 16 game home winning streak) as they drop to 5-3 in league play.

In the other game, LSU got drilled at home by Florida 71-106. This is now six straight losses for the Tigers as they drop to 1-7 in the SEC.

RPIs and standings are updated in the OP.

Tonight there are three games involving state schools including another in state match up.

Louisiana Tech (6-1) travels east to take on UAB (5-2). The Bulldogs have won four in a row and look to hold their second place spot in CUSA.

In state we have UNO (6-1) hosting McNeese (3-4). UNO looks to hold onto the top spot in conference as they go for their third straight win. The Cowboys look to get something going as they have dropped 4 of their last 5 games.

Nicholls (3-4) heads west as they travel to take on Houston Baptist (3-5). Nicholls is in a similar spot to McNeese as they look to get something going as they have lost 4 of their last 5 games.

Nicholls needs a W.

Sidenote: HBU's gym is embarrassing. One positive to them joining the SLC was that it meant Nicholls didn't have the worst facility anymore.

You would think that maybe they'd make it a little nicer for 1,000 seat capacity. I kind of like the small gym approach, but only if you take what you saved in size and seating and put it back into amenities.

Small gyms are awesome, but man most high schools can seat more than 1,000. Hell, the D2 college gym out here seats almost 3K

Well if you don't ever draw more than 1K, no need to go any bigger
