Hope he plays well. Him getting hurt last year was so depressing

It couldn't have happened to a more deserving franchise, though.

I think they should actually use the Lakeshow blueprint and build a the team through the draft (with a couple reasonably-priced vets to help guide the youngins), get back to some semblance of relevance, and then try to get the big name free agent.

Completely agree. The Lakers need to grow organically and not hitch their wagon to the idea of signing big time free agents with an aging Kobe and unproven core. I still maintain that they don't need to swing for the fences this summer. Add some complimentary pieces, let Russell/Clarkson/Randle get their feet wet, then make a push next summer when you have a more established team. A guy like Aldridge at 30 doesn't want to walk into a team that's as messy as the Lakers. The Lakers' brand can't overcome a bad product on the court at the end of the day.

Great post, slo. I think Philly made a solid deal last night, but they look like a 20-25 win team for the foreseeable future. Noel looks solid. Who knows with Embiid. Okafor is a rook. Could they get better? Sure, but even high draft picks are a crap shoot. At some point, they have to go get a FA, and if they win 20 games next year, who is that going to be? Sixers season ticket fans have essentially been held hostage by Hinkie. Glad I am not one of them.

Only Kings fans are in a worse place. High comedy there.

No they don't.

The notion that you have to be some big player in FA to build a contender. OKC still isn't FA destination. It took the Spurs winning like 5 championships to become a player in FA.

Small market teams need to hit on some draft picks, but they also need to be able to attract and keep talent. Do you think Gasol resigns with MEM if they are winning 25 games every year? Put yourself in the shoes of a Sixers season ticket holder. Where is the light at the end of the tunnel? Is stockpiling picks, again, the answer? Telling a season ticket holder to be patient for another 2 - 3 years is rough, especially when you don't have that face of the franchise guy on your roster.

The OKC and SA model is not a realistic goal for Sixers fans.

Jr gonna stay in Cleveland.

He's seeing if anyone wants to give him 10 mill a year but I think he's cared some people off with his usual antics.

If no one does he gonna sign long term with the Cavs for around 7 mill

Today should (stress SHOULD) be the day Memphis and Marc Gasol seal their deal. What we DO know: Gasol plans to take five-year max ($100M+)

Keeping talent and recruiting are two different things.

All of the Philly posters here approve of what he is doing. You will find that this is a common thing.

The Lakers just need to bring Jerry West home. This shite is getting ridiculous.

And they need to hire some sort of consultant to help them with their presentation/pitches.

Big name free agents are obviously interested in the Lakers because the last three years, they are one of the first stops FA's make. But whatever is happening in these presentations is just a disaster. I wish TMZ would get someone to sneak video of one of them. I would love to see that
