He didn't realize his clock was set to CST. Thought he had an extra hour.

They rode buses the first two days and they must have left it up to the players to get to the course for todays singles matches. An assistant captain should have noticed he wasn't there prior to the last minute.

He did show up an hour and 10 minutes early. That's how he got to the course 10 minutes before his scheduled tee time. Don't forget that he had time for at least 5 practice putts before heading to the first tee.
