Gets so much hype which is obviously deserved but people don’t like to look at the numbers. They beat ONE top 10 team all year. That was #4 Nebraska team who lost 62-36 the game before the national championship. Their best player on the team at the time was Ken Dorsey and Bryant Mckinnei per the awards given out. Larry Coker won coach of the year award. 11 players drafted in 2002.
Ken Dorsey - 2652 yards for a completion % 57.9. 23 TD’s 9 int
Clinton Portis - 220 att for 1200 yards 10 TD’s 12 rec for 125 1 TD
Back up RB Willis M - 67 att 314 3 TD’s
Frank Gore - 62 att 562 yards 5 TD’s
Andre Johnson - 37 rec for 682 yards 10 TD’s
Jeremy Shockey - 40 rec for 519 yards 7 TD’s
Ed Reed - 9 int and 2 TD’s. All American
LSU in comparison had 16 players drafted. Beat 7 top 25 teams and 4 top 5 teams. 2 of those teams had won the last 4 prior NC’s.
Joe Burrow - 5671 yards for completion % 76.3 60 TD’s 6 int
Clyde Edwards- 215 att 1414 yards 16 TD’s 55 rec 453 yards 1 TD
Ja’Maar Chase - 84 rec 1780 yards 20 TD’s
Justin Jefferson - 111 rec 1540 yards 18 TD’s
Terrace Marshall - 47 Rec 671 yards 13 TD’s
Both guys missed games
Stingley - 6 int All American

Which other player that year won awards?
This is no disrespect to Miami because I watched them in 2001 and they are to be considered one of the best of all time. You just can’t keep coming out with these articles brainwashing people without facts in front of you.

Best player in terms of talent and potential or what they have accomplished?

Before there was Under Armour, there was Ken Dorsey rocking the baggy undershirt

What can I possibly say? That you’re an imbecile using college awards to determine if a team is good or not?

So far the uneducated answers are
1. bullshite
2. Lol
3. You’re an idiot
This is why we can’t have nice things.

You’re a pussy and have no argument after the numbers I posted.

2001 Miami's argument as tGOAT is based almost entirely on the players they put in the NFL. They came close to losing to Boston College and Virginia Tech. They didn't even play the second best team in college football that year as Oregon got completely shafted and Florida lost a game (Tennessee) they shouldn't have.

Says the dude who’s vagina hurts every time someone mentions 2001 Miami or 2020 Alabama

College football awards are based on 1)how certain players compare to other players on other teams at their position, and 2) media hype. Ed Reed was by far the best player on that team.

You’re comparing stats from 2 completely different eras of football.
