Feel bad he got canned but it'd suck if 100.3 took off Russilo for him

Don't you people have phones? Just stream sports radio. Don't have to flip the channel every five minutes because of commercials too. I listen to Rome in the afternoon on Sticher.

GRRR F***. They actually talked about the Pelicans intelligently and Dino actually had an "in" with AD's camp. This sucks. Not to mention losing DP and Rome is a blow. At least I won't have to be "surprised" by Zephyrs games anymore.

All of this

Russilo's show has gone to hell since Van Pelt left. Ryan is never there and when he is, his side kicks are terrible and make me not want to listen. Between that and Cowherd being canned, I barely listen to sports radio outside of Lebatard.

Get rid of the freaking zephyr games.

Probably shot the ratings down, so that didn't help

Bring back the Zephyr!

According to radio discussions.com, WMTI 106.1 FM will change its format from sports to rock alternative. I don't believe the moniker given will be "The Zephyr," because the station has changed hands several times since 1997 when "The Zephyr" flipped to country. Emmis may have naming rights.

WMTI 106.1 FM has a radiated power of 28k watts and can be heard without static from Walker to Bay St Louis, With static, WMTI can be heard from Baton Rouge to Biloxi.

Football season is almost here, therefore, Russillo won't be taking too many more off days. Yeah the lack of live quality sports talk radio has sent me to the podcast world.

So from what I've heard from someone in the know, is that the ratings were really low.

On the station in general or just the sports hangover?

Just out of curiosity, what the affiliates of the stations? In Charlotte, the CBS sports radio local affiliate blows the Espn affiliate out of the water--much better local shows, local show on the morning instead of mike and mike. They also carry the Westwood 1 feed of national NFL games.

I'm not sure about the ratings, but during ad time they would loop audio from a previous show or segment. I knew this couldn't be good.

I asked regarding the station in general and the reply was that the ratings were low especially compared to the other major local stations

WMTI registered a 0.7 share in the Spring 2015 Phase 1 Nielsen Audio trends up from a 0.0 in the Spring book.

Read More At: LINK

That's basically nothing in terms of ratings. Station never had a chance once Benson moved the Pelicans off it.

Gus K said in a FB post it's going alternative, and there's a website and social accounts out there with the Zephyr nickname.

However, another domain registered for 106.1 would point towards classic hip-hop.

New "management" in the $$$ side I hear

Station never recovered from Benson moving the Pelicans off it.

Ratings for play by play basketball aren't great either. It's a boring sport to listen to compared to watching especially when there's FOX Sports Nola now.

Was there any "heads up" whatsoever? Do you think Gus and the locals were taken by surprised? Yesterday everything seemed normal.

Just a mix up, nobody running the station so it stayed on during the music. We'll find out tomorrow at 3pm what changes are made.

It's not personal to me at all, but I'm sort of bothered by the manner and ease with which corporate radio changes formats for its various stations like changing pairs of shoes.

I used to represent a local radio station that eventually was sold. Man, you wouldn't believe the shitty ratings for virtually all local talk radio other than WWL. You would think owners would know that by now and figure out a way to deal with it.
