LINK

quote:

brings the number of locations where customers can effectively pay with bitcoins from around 8,000 nationwide to over 50,000

Also:

quote:

Bitcoins have been a giant hit for at least one merchant: New York City bar EVR has logged more than $26,000 in Bitcoin sales since it started taking the currency just over a month ago. That's about 10% of the bar's overall revenue.

Odd that they never use bitcoins as an actual value.

You quote seems a little disingenuous. It is just a proxy service to allow you to buy gift cards with bitcoins, which you can then take to the mall to purchase items. It doesn't seem much different than some of the other bitcoin offerings.

I will be interesting if Google jumps into this digital currency market in a big way. It seems like they would have a pretty easy time integrating all of their restaurant customers using Breadcrumbs POS to accept the payments from google wallets seamlessly.

It seems fricking ridiculous to me. Let me convert my dollars to bitcoin. Then I'll convert my bitcoin to giftcards, which are in USD. Then I'll go to the mall and spend my gift card.

Why not go to the fricking ATM, get $500 out and walk into the mall?

It's another useless business providing a useless service, so I see it as irrelevant

Hard to say. Like Broke said they're still paying with dollars.

It's good press though, which is definitely necessary if bitcoin is going to be anything in the future.

That bar seems like a perfect place for you man. Just use your PUA tactics and that bar becomes a barrel full of fish for you to shoot.

Why not just use the debit card at the mall and skip the whole ATM?

What do y'all think of WebMoney announcing the integration of bitcoin? As I understand it, WebMoney is pretty much the Russian equivalent of PayPal.

( reddit thread discussing it )
