Seeking recommendations on attorneys who specialize in estates, wills & trusts in the BR area. I am not interested in Laura Poche.

Our situation is very complex, and while I think a much larger law firm would benefit us, I am interested in a smaller law firm, one preferably that utilizes a paralegal, and not just necessarily a "one-man" shop who is the attorney, secretary, and paralegal.

Is Joe Mengis still practicing?

Reading comprehension clearly not strong, as Biff is with a huge firm.

Try Carla Sibile at Luckovich Law. They're a smaller shop, but handle estate planning for some pretty wealthy folks, so they can handle your complex situation.

I see they have an office in Metairie. Do you know any of the attorneys there? We need someone but preferably in Nola area.

Mengis, unfortunately, as I found out today, does not litigate.

Do you have legal benefits from an employer? We did and had everything from a trust, wills, POAs, and an assortment of other legal docs done for a $50 copay.

Unfortunately, our situation isn't this simple. It involves a civil lawsuit.

Matt Treuting is great in New Orleans, as is Andrew Sullivan.

Yes, I believe so, however, I don't believe his business is civil litigation.

You need an estate litigator not a planner. Sometimes one in the same, but mostly not.

Mark Frey -- yes, he's recently merged with a big firm (Phelps Dunbar) but practiced for many years in a very small firm.

Or, if it MUST be a smaller firm: David Koch. I haven't worked with him professionally but he's smart and a good guy.

My recommendation was because of a personal situation where we did what the OP tried to do and ended up with Biff anyway. Should've hired him first.

The more complex a situation, the more likely a small firm won't be able to figure it out.

This is who I would use. I've known Richard Roth a few years through mutual friends. He's a really good guy and is very knowledgeable about high income estates.
