I like using trailing stops and will stick with them unless I have a very good reason to hold. If you like the stock then move it to a watch list and reconsider if it reverses trend.

This is what I do. Unfortunately this strategy dumped my NVDA and my AVGO stock. Dumped my NVDA at $410.

well you can always slowly sell the stock at a loss, possibly when you make a sale on assets you own to help cover for the capital gains you will be taxed on.

years ago, I got caught up in weed stock mania and one of the stocks I bought crashed 90%. I held for months, refusing to realize the loss, but eventually sold because I wanted it out of my portfolio

now, I have learned and improved my entries for trades and investments so if I cut something loose before my original plan is met, it's because fundamentals unexpectedly changed for the worse since I bought.

I’ve decided to simplify portfolio.
I’ve got to many positions.

So I’m looking at losers first. IF the company has no catalyst, I’m selling.

I’m also looking at winners. If the position is small relative to total portfolio, I’m trimming.

Long term big holding are keepers to me. I’ve just got into to many different issues. Hopefully I’ll get down to the core holdings over the rest of this year.
