PIM I assume is Pimco. That is where your issue is? I know that the PIM total return as a negative return is 2013. If you are young, be more aggressive and take more risk.

I carry a little of the PIm total return.
Ugly 2013, luckily I only have 5% or so.
I did increase my position at the beginning of the year. I think Pimco has a little dividend I'm going to try to catch for 2014.

I feel dumb, but can someone provide a link or anything for a time-weighted avg return calculation? I have irregular contributions over 2013 and can't figure out how to do the weighting (or if its even necessary)
Example:
1/1/13 balance = 500
contribution 1 (at 2/1/13) = 200
contribution 2 (at 7/1/13) = 300
contribution 3 (at 8/1/13) = 150
12/31/13 balance = 1450
Shouldn't you have to weight the returns for the different periods? Or am I over thinking this?
Example:
1/1/13 balance = 500
contribution 1 (at 2/1/13) = 200
contribution 2 (at 7/1/13) = 300
contribution 3 (at 8/1/13) = 150
12/31/13 balance = 1450

I'm at whatever the S&P 500 did over the time frame. so for 2013 30% or so.

29.5% for 2013
16.66% average annual return since 2000.
I've been in all individual stocks for 13 years and need to switch to some couch potato funds

34.3, wife was 33.1 - she was pissed (I try to avoid the same funds for a little diversity) unless they have about the same rate of return for about 5 yrs.
