My sister is married with two kids and lives in LA. She's a doctor. She and her husband make a very good salary, 6 figures. They are poor. Definitely not upper class.
When you have two kids, one in daycare one with a nanny, 200k in student loans, a 450k mortgage, 2 car notes, well suffice to say they don't have shite left over.

Unless you are a complete idiot with money, making 700K a year (and that number is just arbitrary) will make you a rich person.
I doubt most professionals making that type of money are dumb enough to piss it away. The only people that this applies to are lottery winners, athletes, and celebs who have come across large amounts of money without having very high intellects compared to people who arrived at this type of money otherwise. And even then, MOST athletes and celebs are still rich because they have people handling their money.

this has nothing to do with the argument at hand.
We're trying to find the characteristic that defines "upper class". Not arguing over extenuating circumstances or specific case.
Address the logic I used. I'll post it again because it was such a coup.

so since in this thread, we're looking for a definitive characteristic that denotes a person being "upper class in Louisiana"
and there are circumstances where any amount of income could result in a person still not being upper class,
Then income can not be used as definitive indicator of someone being upper class.
(which you've been trying to say this entire post. And you've even gone as far as to give that income a number)

Powerman, the original question was not "what income is considered rich in louisiana?"

Poweman, did you take Calculus at LSU?
Yeah I took 3 calculus classes, differential equations and linear algebra, probability, complex variables, and mathematical methods in engineering. Having tested out of algebra and trig that gives me 29 hours of math, 26 of which was calculus and higher.

When my sister bitches to me to finish her tax return so she has her refund back so they can pay off a credit card, I'll tell her not to worry, that Powerman on TD.com says she's upper class.

I didn't take the test
I hadn't been exposed to it in high school so it would have been a futile attempt

Well 500k a year goes alot farther in Louisiana than most anywhere else

I tested out of Physics 1100, then took it. Bring it.

undoubtedly. But this question is not asking "cost of living".

I think if you are upper class, that is not a concern.
