They're upper class, just not elite upper class.

This is getting stupid

nope. Class is more than money. Class is acceptance denots a social framework. There are members of the upper class that make far less 700k even in Baton Rouge.

But they come from families who run the city. They have their weddings at the nices places. Drive the nicest cars. And the families have been accepted within this social framework for years.

If you are netting 300K a year, you're doing very well for yourself. You're talking about 100K a year on credit cards. Middle class families simply do not put 100K a year on credit cards and have 70K leftover

You're being ridiculous

Many upper middle class families do.

You're assuming upper class only refers to the elite and the powerful

While it does include that class it also includes the rich

If you make 700K a year, you're rich

Exactly Chicken.
I bought my first house making 42% of what I make now, and I thought I was rich.

Bottom line...the more you make, the more you spend.

Kinda like John Lennon...the love you get is equal to the love you make...or some shite.

Powerman, I think you are the one pulling a SFP. The dude making $500,000 is netting $70,000 after expenses. Someone making $500,000 a year could easily charge $8000/month on their credit card. By the way, you still haven't cited any text to support your statements, and no, I am not going to play the Jeopardy song.

Middle class families don't put 100K on a credit card, spend 40K a year on private schools, 60K a year on house notes, and still have 70K leftover at the end of the year.

RICH people do that

Wrong. It doesn't include all rich people...just people with great wealth. If you can't understand the difference, then you shouldn't be in this discussion.

come on. you really think 700k a year in Los Angeles is a lot of money?

Really? Come on, you really think it's as black and white as a cut off number line. It's about your net worth/income level in relationship to your surroundings. Those percentages change by the city.

700k in Baton Rouge is upper class. 700 k in Laplace Louisiana is friggin' loaded. 700k in manhattan is middle class.

Nope. It is a high income, but doesn't necessarily make you upper class. You just said so yourself in a previous post.

Look, I'm not a fricking idiot

If you live in L.A., San Fran, NYC, it doesn't make you filthy rich. In those cities, it probably places you in the upper middle class

But the question was for Louisiana

If you make 700K in LA, you're rich

i've changed tactics, because powerman can't understand that.

but in all likelhood for Baton Rouge, 700k a year is enough money to buy you the influence needed to join the upper class circles.

[I mean it. This is the last time. I'm tired of this thread. You wouldn't really ban me anyway.]

I'd like to say:

"Nobody should argue without facts. Powerman, you have no facts to support your arguement [sic]. Just accept that you're wrong. Live to fight another day." [geez, that's trite]

[BTW - I can't believe that an adult would resort to this tactic. I feel like I have a hand up my back.]

Right

After very lavish expenses that 99% of the population couldn't afford

You said 100K on the credit card in 1 year

Middle class people don't spend 100K a year without going seriously into debt

You can be as stupid as you want with it and say he's sending 8 kids to a private school. Yeah, at that point, he's going to be spending more.

But for MOST people, 700K is rich.

I still don't think that would get you elite status. Depending on his spending habits, the dude making $700,000 could be hurting if he lost his job and couldn't get a new one making the same amount. I will stick with Upper Class = Elite = Rich and Powerful = Don't have to work

That is what I have read on the subject. Powerman has cited anything to the contrary, which is surprising to me, to be frank. I thought he would perform better. He was like Michael Spinx against Mike Tyson.
