So if you make 700K a year you aren't upper class?
There has to be a cut off somewhere. I just don't think of it in terms of income, but more in a socio-economic and status symbol type of way (large mansions, large yachts, private jets, etc).

Granted, the dude making $700K is doing well, and if he made $700K for a long time, then I would guess we would approach upper class status.

Just my thoughts on it.

Upperclass is being rich, personally, when you are born. Upperclass is trust funds that your parents can't even touch. Upperclass is going to Choate or The Hill School for at least some part of high school.

If you make $700k/yr, you are still middle class, albeit very upper middle class.

Rich is something you don't work for. You can work, you can even make more money, but upperclass is all about what you are born into.

I think you're confusing upper class with the ultra rich

If you're a doctor making 400k a year, you're upper class.

When you start getting into the 7 figure range, you're rich which is a level higher than upper class.

I think you're all viewing this from the viewpoint of upper middle class people. To you someone isn't upper class unless they're much better off than you. But to the average person someone who makes 200K is upper class. Not to be confused with rich.

I agree. To me... if you're making six figures, you're getting in to the realm of upper class

If you're in the top 1.5% of wage earners you're upper class

Anyone who disagrees is a fricking idiot

There is another more elite class that goes beyond that obviously but you are still upper class if you're in the top 1.5%

And 157K and up still puts you in the top 5% which I would consider to be upper class

No

You're being an idiot

The question was what is considered middle and upper class in LA

If you make 250K, you're in the top 1.5% of people in the U.S.

Louisiana's median income is 9k less than the national average. You're trying to say that someone who makes 400K in LA isn't upper class? That's beyond stupid.
