Yes. This is true for any business.

As far as your next question, depends on a lot of things. What are you selling? What price? What can you get the merchandise for? Are you paying someone to service the machines? What is rent? Do you need to pay % of sales? Are you buying used machines or new? Renting machines? Where are you storing merchandise? Do you have a vehicle big enough for transporting merchandise? How far are the machines from where you live/store merchandise? Will you do your books on your own or pay someone? Do you have the money to start the venture or do you need a loan?

There are plenty of books out there on the subject, I’d go find the highest rated 2-3 on Amazon and read through those.

There was a lengthy thread about this topic within the past couple of years; seems like someone with good experience contributed.

What kind of vending machines are you talking about?

My dad owns 10 or 11 "Twice The Ice" machines. It's ok. I would not call it a biz really because it doesn't really cash flow enough to have employees. It's really just buying a job.

I don't think he would do it again if he were to start over younger.

Thank you. These are helpful questions I’d need to consider.

I would say snack, drink or healthy options. There are turn-key businesses for sale with 10-12 machines available and in locations already. Just thinking of ways to have some passive income.

You should Google for that other thread and read it. It was pretty informative. They even got the types of readers for credit cards and what to do if people aren’t happy about it eating your money. Ultimately, it sounded not super hands off and fairly time intensive to make money.

Is this all he does or is it just a gig?

And if it's all he does is it full time work? Could you run some ice machines and snack machines?

I sure will when I get home. A lot to consider before even thinking about getting into this.
