That is pretty good if true.
You have a link? All I could find was a ranking from 2009...when LSU's fund dropped to 554M. $800M would be a solid recovery.
LSU Foundation has assets around $500 Million. Add in the Alumni Association and TAF and you're over $800 Million IIRC.
Most endowments/foundations are all inclusive of athletics and alumni foundations as well. LSU's is still 3 separate entities for now.

Do any of these endowments ever get use? There's a bad phallic joke in there somewhere.

Keep in mind this $20B isn't just for UT-Austin but their entire system.

It is true that UTSA [University of Texas - San Antonio] is among the newest public universities among the list, and the UTSA endowment of $54 million seems miniscule when compared to other Texas universities such as UTEP ($151 million), Texas Tech ($736 million), and Texas A&M ($5.1 billion).

Larry Summers 'used' the Harvard Endowment. He helped Harvard lose a boat load of dough. Then ol Larry got a government post. Revolving door policy, gotta love it.

I know for a fact UT Austin does not have a $20B endowment. That is the entire UT system. UT-A is around 7B.
And there's talk that the three lsu fundraising arms will be one in a few years.

UT Brownsville
UT Dallas
UT El Paso
UT Pan American
UT Permian Basin
UT San Antonio
UT Tyler
I doubt all of those together would remotely approach $1B.
That means the UT Health Sci Ctrs would combine for >$12Billion?
More likely the $20B is a FOS #.

There are some surprises in this June, 2006 list. Down the list it gets more interesting; Brown has more bucks than Ohio State, Case Western Reserve U has more than Purdue and so on. UFlorida is ranked 62nd behind such notables as Wellesley, Amherst and U of Richmond. LSU is ranked 97th behind Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Oberlin College. The dollar amounts are at the site:LINK

What are the non-flagship schools, and can you answer that without googling?
