People could have bought this at $112 for two days and now they are gulping it up at $120? Silly market makers.

I wouldn't be taking victory laps just yet. I expect Q1 to be brutal for broader markets and for Tesla.

I believe TSLA is announcing earnings the last week of January… the 25th?
Posted on 1/2/23 at 7:57 pm to wheelr
Well, it’ll be back under $115 tomorrow. Total miss on deliveries. Probably going to see sub $100 this week.

Woooof. I guess people are starting to realize it’s just a car company.

I believe it is way more than a car company and at this price it is a good deal.
But with that in mind, it is probably going to go lower (better buying opportunities in the future) and it will probably stay low for a while so there are better places to put your money in the meantime.

Yeah, that was kinda bait. It’s a little more and I get the premium. But again, when teslas are currently viewed by a large part of their audience as MAGA hats on wheels it’s all going down. There’s a serious demand issue right now right after they ramped up supply dramatically. Still think. 50% more downside.
Also, colder market are going to think long and hard about electric after their first season driving in the winter. Several folks I know a who live up north tired them and ditched them within 2 years. Total PITA in the winter.
Dealer footage for used.

I think musk appoints a new CEO to protect the Tesla brand in the very near future. The flip side of that is red state folks that loved to block charging spots and roll coal when they saw a Tesla may be interested in a Tesla now, especially that weird cybertruck.
The cold battery thing will be a factor for all EVs, Tesla has a heat pump but it can only do so much. Considering Canada is mandating EVs in the future this will be a problem for all drivers regardless of what they’re driving

Is that ever coming out?
I think part of tesla's problems are that Elon's bullshite timelines are starting to catch up to them. Not the end of the world when tesla is the only real game in town. But now that rivian, ford and chevy are beating tesla to market by months (years?) that's a problem. When the cybertruck was announced, Elon promised it would be the first truck to market. Now it's going to be the 5th (or worse).
Tesla enjoyed crazy early mover advantage because no one else got serious with their development until tesla was a hit. The model S is a 13 year old car with minimal updates in interior and exterior style. The model 3 is just a smaller version. I see Tesla's current offerings going from the cutting edge of car tech to tired and stale with each passing year. The big boys are pouring every penny into developing their EV lineup. Tesla has 2 cars on the horizon (roadster and cybertruck) and it almost seems like its a question of if, rather than when, they will launch.
Second, I think people are getting wise that the dream of autonomous taxi's and tesla being the sole purveyors of driverless vehicles is nothing more than a dream. Full level 5 self driving is probably closer to decades away than years away. For years Elon has said that it's "just around the corner" but almost everyone in this space, including former tesla engineers will tell you we aren't really close to a real autonomous vehicle ready for public consumption.
For a few years, Tesla was really the only game in town for EVs and for "self driving" tech. But those days are over. The companies that sell A LOT more cars than Tesla are now devoting nearly everything they have to EVs and autonomous driving tech.

Looks like it’s gonna test $100 today.
Posted on 1/6/23 at 9:10 am to GeneralLee
I’ve been waiting to dump 10k in Telsa. Would you do it today at 103 or wait until Q1 financials come out?
Posted on 1/6/23 at 9:13 am to dallastiger55
Not financial advice, but I'm not touching this personally until the $50-60 range. Be patient and let the bubble pop all the way first. Once it breaks $100 there will be cascading sell orders that pretty much guarantee that $80 will then be tested next.

Sold at @ $138...took the loss for taxes..then shorted.

Bought some today at $109.
