I was the poster child for clueless retirement investor for so many years. I would sign up for the 401K and basically throw a dart to choose my funds.
VOO, VTI, etc...are great for people who either don't know what they are doing, or are just a born loser when trying to invest outside of index funds. Just throw it in and forget it.

I would argue VOO is a good spot even for people who do know what they are doing.

just curious. what is your age and what AA were you trying to achieve?

Made this move at 55, which is when I "retired". Become full time investor with most of my activity being in real estate now. I am 62 now. I buy building lots and raw land, hire builders and build new construction homes.
Not clear what AA means. My goal with the move was to protect that amount of money.
The only time I sold from the 500 was a shift to increase my bond holdings. I did that because conventional thinking due to my age. Regretted it ever since. Lol.
