Elon is a decade behind.
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND LIDAR"
I see you've learned deflection from him as well. All those suckers who bought cars for FSD, only to sell them after a decade of empty promises. Cucks.

you are right you dont know.
Waymo uses LIDAR, radar, and cameras systems in their car.
... 4 LiDARs, and 6 radar unit
The LiDARs are expensive. Waymo claimed to have brought expenses down from $75K/unit to $7.5K/unit. They are secretive about their costs, but assuming they are now down to $5K/unit that is $20K just on LiDAR x 4, plus another $5K-$10K on the radar array.
Elon is doing the same thing with cameras and software. So when the poster claimed Elon was a decade behind, it was not an informed opinion.

Millions? Probably not. Hundred of thousands, I guarantee it. Although to get to millions won’t be a significant challenge since FSD is already on Tesla’s owned by consumers. It’s all up to local governments.
One year later...

Tesla has roughly 30 to 60 unsupervised robotaxis operating across the United States

The unsupervised vehicles are primarily limited to Texas, with the highest concentration in Austin (around 27 vehicles), along with smaller handfuls in Dallas and Houston. ]

Leave it to Elon to completely frick this up, despite it being a decade behind

$100 bet that Tesla has more paid rides per week than Waymo in 2 years or less? Like you said WAYMO has a HUGE lead.
1 year in and I think I am losing $100. LOL

quote:With the caveat Waymo and Zoox are lidar dependent platforms. Tesla is not. So the ramp up for TSLA could be quite rapid once the software is good to go. Austin will be that test

11 years
Who cares if they are lidar dependent. Lidar has progressively become cheaper.
Lidar prices have dropped 90% in the last decade

While early Waymo robotaxi sensor suites once cost over $50,000, consumer-grade automotive LiDAR is now priced between $200 and $500

I have a Tesla FSD it is quite impressive. Not sure when level 3/4 will be permanent fixture but the possibilities will be impactful.
Need less cars, less areas for parking. Commute times can be more productive since you can send emails, etc when not driving

When FSD is perfected by Elon he will flood the market with Robo taxis and swallow the competition with massive numbers of cars.
The competition will never be able to match Elons mass production assembly line.
This will happen next year and it will be game over.

I thought it was going to happen in 2016. Remember when he promised that? Remember when he said tesla's are an appreciating asset? Remember? Remember? Remember?
TSLA will merge with spacex to hide their failures, just watch.
