Preface - this is something I've been mulling over for a little while. I could very well be wrong, but my hope is that there's enough interest on this board that it will gain some traction. There is an overabundance of long-term investing threads, daytrading, crypto, options, penny stock speculatives, OTCs, etc...but I dont see much in the way of threads around the 3 to 15 day swing trades of small/med/lg caps.

Ideally a new thread is started every Sunday, so it doesnt turn into a massive thread hundreds of pages long. I'd sure like to learn new ideas from others, as lately I've been a bit guilty of paralysis by analysis and I think we can all use some fresh eyes on things every now and then. I hope this is something that is well received.

What I'm eyeing this week:

TUP Tupperware $35.69
-Bounced up off -2 StdDev, crossed up over -1 StdDev on Friday's close
-MACD crossed up over
-broke out above and trading over the cloud
-MFI under 50

Negatives
-RSI is a little high at 60
-Volume has been a bit down the last few sessions

Looking for it to hit $39.14 and hold above that mark. Targeting $42.30 as a good exit, $46 would be ideal

Playing on Bitcoin volatility.

MARA—-March 19th vertical call
Buy ITM with most liquidity and sell the 40 strike
40 strike was selling what the 36-39 strike was all last week (~3.00). I’ll take the discount and STOP at 20%

Mind if ask why? What about it did you evaluate and then determine it's a good entry?

Besides just tossing out tickers, I'd also like to learn more about what various indicators people use to make decisions. I'm not ever looking for anyone else to do all the heavy lifting with DD, but perhaps maybe share some key indicators that flagged this one for you?

Entry by stop loss, use 2x targets. I don't do fundamentals. Just trade price action and volume. Also I wouldn't go long TUP, looks like a good short to me under $33.57 x $38.60 with a target around $20.

Nice DD on TUP.

RSI is a very misunderstood metric. It only measures how fast price reaches “overbought” or “oversold.” Things can and do remain “overbought” and “oversold” for very long timeframes.

2 small cap value stocks just now starting to move and are breaking out of their downtrends:

EZPW - EZ Corp pawnshops
ADES - Advanced Emission Solutions

Good Luck!

Obviously you misunderstand RSI. The relative strength index (RSI) is a momentum indicator used in analyzing trending bearish or bullish patterns and evaluate price changes for overbought or oversold conditions in the price of a stock or other asset. When you are referring that it stays embedded for longer periods of time are you referring to the 3 day RSI, 5 day RSi, 14 day RSI . The RSI is merely an analytical tool that when used with other metrics can give good indications of what is to come but you need to be using the correct day rsi.

Traders have been using VTO trades for years to determine when to enter and when to exit as it is a great metric especially when used in combination with the Bollinger band 10,1.9 and the MACD with a swing low but I’m sure you are well aware.

I don’t misunderstand RSI at all. Daily RSI is what I was referencing since he was interested in 3-15 day swings.

Most of THE best stocks with the highest demand have an RSI that stays above 70.

This was mentioned as he seemed to think a 60 RSI on TUP was a negative and I was inferring that it was NOT.

Good Luck!

Thank you for starting this thread. Swing trading is best for me. My job doesn't allow me the time to day trade and I can't keep up with it anyway.

My targets for this week. Any and all feedback is welcome. (kind of a newbie). I use the 4HR chart. Stochastic, RSI, and MACD as my indicators.

-APXT- Nice ascending trendline. Converging on 200 and 50 MA lines. Indicators are low and starting to curl.

-QCOM- Dropped on earnings. At good area of support. Indicators are low and curling up.

-SDC- Bounced off 200 MA line. Indicators are low and starting to curl.

-SPOT- Low inside its channel. Stochastic is starting to rise. MACD about to cross over.

I’ve been playing CRSR Corsair on a bounce. Had been trading in a range of 35-45 for a bit. Looks like it’s broken out now. Holding my shares

Thanks, either one of you care to elaborate a bit more? Besides recommending stocks, I also started this thread to try and learn more overall.

So, in these instances, when I look at the daily charts, I'm not seeing what your are in regards to why these would be good entries into a swing trade this week.

ZNGA - I 100% get the trade into earnings for momentum, and never hold thru earnings. But if I look at the chart, here are the things I see that indicate to me, it's not a time to enter into a long trade:
*It closed at (+)2 StdDev
*The RSI is already at 68.5. It usually pulls back around 75
*The MFI is at 72, thats something of a peak

The things I see that look "good" are:
-the MACD just crossed up over
-it's trading well above a healthy cloud
-The chikou is in a really good spot

But overall, it seems like a stock that is trending upward, but there's not much room to run in the short term

CRSR - almost the same thing. The charts and indicators seem that it's overall a good stock to trade, but it's at the peak of a swing, and destined to retrace any day now. Were you suggesting a short? Or just in general, this is a good stock to swing trade in general?

I think anything we can do to not only share ideas, but to help educate fellow posters is a benefit to the board. If you're not into that, that's cool too. Not knocking anyone for suggesting, helping, recommending - but I am attempting to garner some new perspectives, without coattailling someone elses hard work and DD.

Cheers

Yesterday, Ideal Power (IPWR) announced an offering of 1.2M sh at $17/sh ... private placement. That might mean a new partner coming in, not sure. IPWR has multiple patents they are collecting licensing fees on and their tech is legit. My revised 2021 PT moving from $28 up to $36 by Q4'21.

Currently accumulating below $19 ..... maybe a dip tomorrow morning? Last trade $21.10 /share. But barring a market correction, this may be my last opportunity to acquire below $20. ..... this could easily be a $30 stock by April. Only my opinion.

Excellent intellectual property and good leadership ....... I suspect a significant partnership is going to be announced, likely with the investors of the partner, hence the offering.

I’ve been on this since Oct ... continuing to add periodically and will continue to do so at advantageous entry points . Market cap 63.8M .... earnings announcement March 9th .
