Can you suggest a buyer in South Louisiana other than pawn shops for sterling silver flatware dining sets? Some pieces are identified as" Gorham." Is that identification enough to warrant a premium over melt value?

We somehow got left w three or four monstrous “sets” of thus stuff. If I remember, one is significantly more expensive than the rest. Following to see options.
None of these were family sets, just stuff picked up at garage sales, etc

There is a store in St. Francisville called Birds of a Feather that does consignment of these types of things. You might check there. My mother owns a full set of Gorham Strausbourg and it is very valuable, especially if you have a full 8/10/12 piece set.

Things never seem to be valued as much as they might appear to be.
Collectibles, jewelry, objects just don’t seem to have the market they once did.
I guess the raw material has intrinsic value, but getting a “good price” is probably harder than I think it would be.

I will start with them. Thanks.

I haven’t been there in a long time but there was a place on Magazine Street that specialized in second hand silverware.
