Has to be ransomeware attack and they have LA nuts in a vice. I agree with other posters, they are probably deciding on whether or not to pay the ransome.

This was my next move but I have low expectations concerning a response.

If they cant even notify account holders with an email for something like this, I doubt a rep is going to provide any meaningful information.

As best I can tell, this thread is the most useful source of information on this incident.

My expectations are low also, but if he provides anything it will be more than I have right now.

I never underestimate the power of TD, but damn, that statement is frustrating.

Anyone have an estimate on the total holdings of the START program?

Up until this incident, this was one of the few things I actually felt good about concerning La state government.

Yeah, this thread, Facebook, and that Fox News article are the only places online that are talking about it. Nothing on Twitter that I’ve seen. Found these links but they just regurgitate what we already know, which is basically nothing.

Someone on Facebook said around $1.5 billion in investments across the K12 and college 529 accounts, no idea how accurate that is.

100%

Not anymore though. Assuming we all still have our funds, I'm moving it elsewhere as soon as possible.

Wow, if correct.

That seems high to me but I really have no idea.

I know what I've got in it and thats it.

It was amazing to me how many people with high school aged children had no idea this even existed.

Yeah same. You can actually start a K12 account on your kid when they’re born to pay for private elementary and HS tuition. If they end up going to public school or have funds left in the K12 Save plan upon graduation it rolls over into a College Save plan, or dumps the money into their College plan if they already have one.

The LOSFA website says $950mm as of 2019; so $1.5 billion seems accurate.

Yeah, I guess the math checks out.

Just never thought about it in terms of total holdings until now.

From the article:

“Security guards in the lobby told WAFB they stopped seeing workers at the LOSFA offices last week, and no one was available to come down and talk to us.”

You can’t make this shite up.

I know at my job, when there is a crisis, the first thing we do is tell all employees to stop reporting to work.
