if either of those fed responses end up being reality, this will not end well

I’m only guessing.

The shorts, some of them may have to cover.

Some may short more.

The SEC and big brokers will likely act against the individual sellers .

I guess shorting now, IF you are into shorting would be “reasonable.”

I would try to at least lock in my cost IF I was along for the ride.

Good luck to any of you guys holding no matter what.

Maybe buys some puts?

obviously on the record saying they're going to prosecute some WSB posters and likely people on Twitter,

Lawsuits that won’t go anywhere? Sure. Criminal prosecution? HIGHLY doubt it. Probably will be the most difficult to prove and we’ve never seen anything like it. Also has the attention of the common people. The attempted to prosecute Patrick Byrnes over Overstock short squeeze and that seemed more cut and dry, judge dismissed it with a quickness and he was paid $5 million

If the federal government prosecutes a Reddit poster for saying he likes a stock and encourages other to buy it then our boy AncientTiger is looking at 5-20. As well as 30% of all Fintwit users and every CNBC commentator in history. Where does it stop?

Ditto

Many people will not be able to comprehend what I am about to say and after not comprehending it will then go on to mock it.

There are still some people in this world who put more value on principles than money

i'm not going to get into the details of the criminal stuff but i'll speak about it in meta/policy terms. the former head of the SEC was on CNBC a couple days ago saying the actions were criminal manipulation. the only way they can keep the current system going with that threat is to eliminate that threat. the only way i see them being able to do that is with criminal prosecution

Yeah, with the current climate in the USA...

Let's hope not.

LOL... I have seen the puts for every week and month. Tons of those are now up 100K... NOT A TYPO 100K percent.

this is like bottom of the 12th inning type of stuff

i think they will try some other tricks before it comes to this (im thinking we are in like the 7th inning stretch as of now)

the feds play will be to covertly ask Gamestop to issue more shares and go from there (imo).

the more they can influece behind the scenes, the better

Gives the short sellers shares to buy. Essentially an out.

the federal government authorizing (ordering?) a company to sell shares because they're over-valued is such an epic mindfrick

Agreed.

But if it comes down to the collapse of the institutions.... They will come at the people, not the institutions.

And yes, it's the institutions fault.

if they issue more shares, it helps kill the squeeze and it could also deter retails momentum and piss off a lot of people

however, the maximum new shares gamestop is allowed to issue is only $1,000,000 so even IF they did this, there would still be a significant amount of shorts still needing to cover

Yeah.... The federal gov and the systems are being exposed.

The last 4 years it's like an everyday "WTF".
