Don’t touch deferred savings. Penalties and taxes are too high.
Now, if they want to stop contributing and use the extra cash to pay down debt that’s reasonable. Life throws you curve balls and you have to be flexible.
Second, I’d sell those damn vehicles and get something used and functional. Not paying in $60k of auto debt gets you out of this hole.
