ETA: Are you going to participate in the 2014 market prediction thread?
Probably not.

I gave up on predicting markets 20 years ago. I'm not good at figuring out where they are going. I'm good at figuring out how to prepare for both scenarios.

Fair enough.
If you change your mind, the deadline for getting your prediction in is this coming Sunday at 8 PM.

Ok. Good luck to everyone.

And God forbid if you are 10,000 points off. You'll never hear the end of it from da haters.

BTW, wiki is making fun of you and me in the bitcoin thread on the OT. His butt hurt runs deep.

He likes me. Don't be jealous.

Wiki brags about being a frick 'em & forget 'em type.

First off, I must admit I mostly lurk the MB for decent tips but this thread caught my eye. I never fully understood Bitcoins and they still, to me, sound super sketchy to say the least. I appreciate Wiki's explanations, but to say anybody is scared of anybody on TD is absolutely laughable. TD is known for internet hardasses and knights running amok. I enjoyed the back and forth between Wiki and Russian, as it highlighted my general reserves about Bitcoins (hard to withdraw USD if you can even withdraw, subject to government control of internet, used by criminals/regimes who are subject to great volatility, etc.). To me, Bitcoins are just the hot topic of the moment but what its future holds... That is totally a crap shoot IMO. Put me down for $239.27. Whats the prize anyway? Haha

I don't care. And I love the people saying he's been right. Of course he has. He's played both sides of the aisle for fricking forever. IT'S ANONYMOUS, wait no pseudoanonymous. ABSOLUTELY NO TRANSACTION FEES. Unless you want to convert to currency or buy anything.

I'm still waiting for someone to buy a pack of chewing gum with Bitcoins. Shouldn't you be able to do that with currency?
The exuberance of those who look at the increase in value of a Bitcoin and know nothing about them reminds me of the investors in 1929 who were buying stock in companies they knew nothing about. There will come an event that will impair the value of Bitcoins, and the wealth tied up in them will be lost. It is not a matter of if, but of when. The reliance on infrastructure that is subject to interruption makes it inevitable.

I mean they don't even have a good working exchange. And I agree with everything you've said. This is a disaster waiting to happen for the foolish getting in right now.

Good thread on the OT. Apparently there are some new issues with Bitcoin that have popped up. I don't know what it means but it doesn't sound good.

Thanks. I haven't ventured over to the O-T yet today. I didn't want to have to take a shower this early....

Oh it's golden. You need to get in there like right now. This thing has the potential (at least according to the article) to crumble right before our eyes.

Wiki's presence is requested on the OT.
