I assume (and I could be wrong) but when he buys the shares, he’s collecting the highest premiums out there when he sells the covered calls. So maybe it’s more of a risk mitigation vs selling naked calls. So at the end of the whole cycle, yes he’s buying high and selling low. BUT it’s the cost of the premiums and the contracts he’s playing. He's not so worried about marginal “losses” on the buying/selling of shares.

It doesn’t necessarily make the most sense. It just keeps me calm.
If I had sold all my calls today and was sitting on cash as the stock moved past $54, I’d be pissed and panicking.
BUT, I bought the shares at an average of $50 today, so I’m up another 3.6k on those…
And because I own shares, I can sell covered calls and then profit on a downside move.
When I sell shares at a loss, I only do so because I can make 3x on a pop with the options.
I only do this in high beta names that I know really well.

If I didn’t buy shares, all of which were bought today, I’d be missing out on 3,700 dollars.
I also would not have received 3,870 in sold calls premium.

Hope your sell order hits.
It did. I was beginning to wonder. Sold 10 contracts at $24.40. I could have gotten more (as per usual), but I'm happy because I made over $10K. I'll wait for a dip and buy another 10 contracts.

Yes, I’m constantly fluctuating between risk on and risk off.
I locked in 31.30 on 2028 calls today.
I them bought last week at 20.90
31.3-20.9=10.4/20.9=0.498
I made 50%
I bought those when stock was around 39.50 and sold around 52.5
52.5-39.5=13/39.5=0.329
33% gains on the stock vs 50% on the LEAPS.
I stood to lose a lot more on options than stock. So I rotated into stock and sold calls while premium was high.

Trimmed - sold the 7 options I had and 750 shares. 50-70% on those.
Still hold 2,300 - will add on any major dip

Times like this I wonder what I’m doing fooling around with diversification

A lot of smart investors have said that diversification is a strategy to avoid losing money. To build wealth, you invest in just a few stocks and learn them well.
Another investor said that dead people's accounts always do the best because thwy don't trade.

Do you ever buy calls deeper in the money but less expensive than buying the actual stock and then sell the at the money cals?
That seems a better way for someone with limited resources to participate. May hedging the gamble with puts around the same level as the deep call in case there is a catastrophic decline before epiration?
Have tried that successfully a few times because most of my assets are managed and I limit the cash I can risk in a brokerage account of my own dysfunctional management. :)

Is that a poor man’s covered call?
I’ve tried it before, but not with OUST.
I wouldn’t want to sell at the money though.

I do not understand the buying and sell of shares. It seems backward because you are buying on the pop and selling on the drop.
This is also how I played NBIS last fall until everything fell apart, but that was my fault as I got way too greedy.
This year the growth had been slower and more consistent, and the drawdowns far less severe.
These are realized P/L in my Roth.

Climbed well past $50 on low volume today.
After crossing $50 last week and correcting to low $40s fairly immediately, I think today was the last dying gasp of people selling in the $49-50 range.
Primed for another leg up, just my two cents. Climbing on low volume past ATH during a normal trading session is super bullish.
Another thing to consider: stock price is now above the Amazon warrant price that was previously discussed in this thread.
Amazon can choose to exercise their warrants to own up to 5% of OUST at a price of $50.49/share. Amazon owns over 3M warrants. Over 2M of these have already vested according to ppdd on X. (Most knowledgeable OUST investor)
Just wanted to recirculate that info since we are officially over $50.49.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought that the majority of those warrants were already exercised??
Which means that AMZN is spending a lot of money on OUST sensors…

I may buy back some covered calls around $49. I’m mostly worried about the $70 strikes in my brokerage.
They’re good til January.
I could also use a loss in my brokerage account for tax reasons.

So AMZN only has 400k warrants left?
I’m sure news of this will pop up soon since we are at $54.
More than a double since original entry!
$110 in a year??!

I fricked up not buying back my 8/21 $50cc last week. Doubt I’ll get another opportunity to. Wouldn’t mind it though. I’ve got a lot of cash (for me anyways) that’ll settle after today selling 3 calls I picked up last week. Trying to figure out what to do with it now. I don’t want to miss out on the next leg up with OUST.
