Just placed an earnings trade on ANET.
Sold 140/110 put spread for $71 credit. Comes out to 2.4% ROI on risked amount. August 4th expiration. This is a company I really like and would be happy to own shares under 140.

When I setup this trade I see this as $71 debit since you are buying a put at 140 and selling a put at 110, am I missing something?

I am selling the 140 put and buying a 110 put. I profit if ANET stays above 140 after earnings.
The trade you are describing only makes money if ANET goes BELOW 140 after earnings.

Thanks for the clarification, that makes more sense. Excuse my novice question, as I am new to spreads, but if the underlying were to drop below 140 then the put would be assigned and would the buy put cover the 100 shares? Similar to a PMCP?

If the price were to close under 140 on the expiration date, you would be the proud owner of 100 shares of ANET, with an effective buy price of ~139 per share. That is, as long as the price of ANET was above 110.

That is what I thought as well, basically a naked put with some backside protection by owning the buy put.

Thanks. I was expecting to have to take 100 shares of EBAY. But with the market updraft today, even that short put fizzled and died by 4PM.
Earnings season has been very good so far.

Among others, on the earnings deck today we have AMD, EA, SBUX, MOS and CZR.
I’m looking at 8/4 jade lizards on SBUX and 8/4 naked puts on AMD and EA. The 8/4 short put position I have on UBER is down to pennies now. Still devoting most of my trading to the 0-1 DTE SPX trades, and for the most part only doing earnings trades as “fillers”. With the market looking toppy yesterday afternoon, I went heavy on 8/1 SPX 4630 SCVs. Once the market settles into a range today, I’m looking to sell an equal amount of lower delta SPX SPVs (with no affect on Buying Power Reduction - because the system treats it like an iron condor).
Anybody else working on earnings plays today or this week? CVS, Dish, Ferrari are among those reporting before the bell tomorrow.

Anyone else buying Puts on BUD pre earnings
I don’t have a ton of capital to work with but I’ve been accumulating a bit over the last week and went in a good bit yesterday. Up 26% so far. Hoping ER on Thursday takes them down pretty good

I’ve got a 3x5 jade lizard on SBUX at 94 short puts and 109/114 SCV.
And short puts on AMD at 103. All on the 8/4 expiration.
