Answer this question honestly:

Has there or has there not been multiple crashes since February 1995?

Exactly.

True

And yet here we sit today, with that same index over 6.5 times higher that it was in February 1995.

And the Russell 2000 closed below 255 for the last time ever. *

And the Nasdaq Composite was flirting with 800.

*I’m too lazy to check that officially but the charts would suggest it’s accurate.

None that I know of.

I remember 2 or 3 routine short-term market corrections since then but no crashes with the exception of the flash crash on May 6, 2010 when the Dow Jones lost almost 1,000 points, or 9%, (from a starting point of around 10,500 points) but fully recovered from the dip within 36 minutes. It was caused by some high frequency trading systems that got triggered.

And possibly the 2008/2009 financial crisis market pull back could be considered a "crash" but I considered it the best buying opportunity in my lifetime. I literally doubled by stock portfolio value within 18 months from when the pull back started.

So I know you aren't trying to say a prediction of a market crash made in 1995 finally occurred in 2008, are you?

What crashes do you remember?

To be fair, the DJI adds winners and removes losers from time to time. It's not a completely static dataset.

Imagine thinking this is a good rate of return over 25 years

Is 7.4% annualized bad? From a risk-adjusted standpoint that’s not too shabby.

Eta- 8.2% actually. I just rolled with the 6.5x figure which is incorrect.

8.6% compounded annually? Roughly 4X the average annual rate of inflation?

My money doubles approximately every 8 1/2 years with a Beta of about = 1.0?

Sign me up for that anytime. I'll take it.

A good rate is a good risk adjusted rate.

So, all your goofy cackling emojis made zero sense basically. I didn't think they did, but I'm glad you confirmed. Weird flex.

for a low risk retirement account 8% is fine.

but yall are celebrating this while shitting on bitcoin for when it did this in way less than 4 years. yet many here called it a scam including some that still shite on it, include slackster.

over any 5 year period, gains in btc would destroy this though at no real risk to lose your money. hell you could say 3 or 4 year period too.
