exactly

nationalized oil companies are nationalized so their govt doesn't have to share with anyone.

Santa Monica, CA -- Exxon Mobil’s first quarter profit of $4.55 billion dollars is small only by comparison to the last six years of nearly continuous profit records, said Consumer Watchdog. Its first quarter profit is more than $1 billion above what it made for the period in 2003 and about the same amount below its profit in 2004, the first two years of a boom that lasted until the current quarter.

Yes fantastic point there professor! It is below the past 6 years, thus proving it is higher! Fantastic... please... keep up the good work!

Do you realize the link you provided proves you were wrong about the oil companies making more profit now than when oil was a $140/barrel?

Did you read it? It said it made the same ammount it made... 6 years ago!

Besides that, it was obviously biased against any carbon producer and ignoring the fact that ExxonMobil is developing the ability to make lithium batteries more efficient. But don't let facts get in the way of what MSNBC told you.

By equal they mean more. I am really starting to understand.

Overall profit below past six years + refining profit being flat = Making more profit now then before.

I cant believe I didnt see it... it was so obvious.

And to finish off the undisputable evidence of increased profits.. we have the final quote:

quote:

Today’s lower profits are no reason to continue those and other subsidies, including offshore profit schemes, said Consumer Watchdog, because the oil companies remain awash in cash in comparison to other major industries.

Again by lower profits they mean higher profits.... I dont know why I cant seem to get that through my head.

This is too much fun

Which they should be. They buy at price X. its costs Y to refine. They sell at (X+Y)*1.08 to get their normal 8% profit margin. The 8% was what I believe refiners to average. Please don't get caught up on if that is wrong or not.

Oh RLYs?
