-are people (let's say in this thread, not necessarily everyone as a whole) intending to actually use ETH for currency, or is it strictly as an investment to buy low sell high?

-what causes it to fluctuate so wildly so frequently? What is it that actually moves the needle on the cost of a unit?

-for those with a good bit of ETH, what is your ultimate play? This is new to me...will you sell half when it reaches a benchmark you've decided then let the rest ride? Sell it all?

-hiw can the price per unit vary by site? I think I saw someone earlier say it was more on coinbase than on another site

I would say 99% think of it as an investment

Thank you, this is all new to me.

So is it bad to just use one site like coinbase instead of shopping around to see if it's cheaper elsewhere? Also is there like a stock ticker or something that monitors the value or do you just get on coinbase and see what it is?

Also I saw someone? mention mining ETH...is it similar to BTC in that there's only a finite amount?

For now strictly an investment for me. Once I become for familiar with it's use as a currency, I may transition that way.

I know everyone's situation is completely different, but what kinda price do y'all think it won't "be worth" continuing to buy? $200,300,500?

Absolutely. In fact I wish every investment I ever made or will make was elite backed.

Posted previously but short term goal is buy pretty good amount up to $120/unit.

Wait 'til it hits $200-250. Sell some (I'll run numbers but probably enough to recoup my initial investment). Hang on to the rest and hope this thing really skyrockets.

Thanks okie. All the investing I've ever done has been putting money away into retirement accounts that I don't plan to touch for a few decades, so this is all pretty exciting!

As I continue reading I see that ETC is the actual currency, similar to Bitcoin, while ETH is more of the overall platform. We're all doing ETH right? Is anyone doing ETC instead, or both? And have I understood that right or am I an idiot?

It's new for me too man. High risk, high potential reward.

Definitely feels like a gamble, and if you can afford the risk go for it. If you're stretching to buy them, I wouldn't.

Nothing wrong with that . Its all about getting ahead any way possible . Just hoping Ethereum isn't a move to destroy bitcoin and eventually collapse crypto currency altogether . Cryto currency has a chance to revolutionize the world and be the death of debt based fiat currency.

No ETC is the original Ethereum from before the fork.
