I feel like the spirit of Wiki lives through this
quote:
For everyone crying correction: I wasn't always a hodler, but I learned my lesson trading too much in crypto markets early on. IMO this is a long term bull market. It's not for the weak of hand. If you want to try and trade to pick up some extra ETH in the short term, then I highly suggest you know what you're getting into. Some people here are very good at it. I've been through that, and I'm not. If hodl is your general position and you are long ETH in the long term, then hodl. Your tax basis will be better, you won't be increasing waves of volatility in the markets, you'll reduce the supply of ETH for sale, Yeah it'll go down. Could go down 50. Then again, could go up 50. Long run it'll probably go up at least another 500%. Also consider who's telling you it's overbought. Wall Street. When Wall Street is writing articles telling you to sell, BUY. Almost everyone who bought into bitcoin years ago right before it collapsed and got pummeled would be up over 100% long term. Over 100% in FOUR YEARS. I'm not bitcoin maximalist but this is a global market. Interest is not just coming in through the US, it's worldwide.

so when you sell, you're just moving from your ETH wallet to your USD wallet? I'm assuming when you buy back in, it's the same thing but in reverse?

That's the truth

yes. the money was immediately moved to my USD wallet and i have currency in both the USD and ETH wallet
i want some flexibility to jump into ETH, LTC, or BTC today and i'll just sit pat with 50% of my ETH for holding
also, if LTC is still the driver, it's going down right now

I can't imagine any reason why LTC would be the driver though.

GDAX = ETH on CB right?
Posted on 5/26/17 at 10:13 am to JohnnyKilroy
After four days, my ETH arrives in coinbase today. Do I want to move it to Gemini? Will it allow me more real time trading with a bank account or do I have to wait too?
Posted on 5/26/17 at 10:15 am to TheWiz
Man I bought on the 23rd and I can't even do anything until the 31st...
The wait period is ridiculous.

yes. I use it because you get more market info with GDAX. CB just tells you the last transaction price

You're gonna have to wait for bank transfers to clear before withdrawing from Gemini, but you can trade on your deposits instantly.
Also, if you are sending ETH to Gemini, I'm pretty sure you can trade on it, and withdraw anything from those trades immediately.
I think anything that comes from a bank transfer takes a few days to go through.

I actually like the waiting period more now that I think about it.

Looks like both ETH and BTC may be on the move.

Up or down?
I'm resisting the urge to go look. I just wanna log off coinbase, 4chan and the Money Board and live my life for 2 weeks. Crypto is making me a neurotic mess

Ha, I hear you, I'm looking way too much. They were moving up fairly sharply, then leveled off. Probably wasn't anything, but I got excited there for a minute.
I'm trying to figure out what the trade may be heading into the Holiday weekend for US traders. Assuming people are gonna decide they don't wanna be living this shite 24/7 on a Holiday weekend. Do they just hold and try not to look/bother with it, or sell to relieve themselves and enjoy the weekend? Or is it neither and refresh the charts every 30 seconds?

No shite.. I'm supposed to be working, but I've subcontracted the bullshite out to Fiverr this week so I can stare at these crypto graphs. It's like watching paint dry, but I cant stop staring. FML...

Obviously past performance means nothing for future performance, but BTC has has significant rises every memorial day weekend for the last 4 years...
Interesting trend if nothing else.

Are we witnessing the lunchtime tumble?
Posted on 5/26/17 at 12:08 pm to SlowFlowPro
Maybe. Dropped from 180 to 173 on Gemini real quick.

Here's my take. The largest market makers are satisfied with their profits recently and are closing up shop for the long weekend.
