So are we thinking bitcoin is just gonna continue to moon with Trump in office? I always tell myself I’ll sell at the new ATH but I always end up just holding lol

There will be multiple pullbacks and probably some consolidations on its overall march upwards

I know this is logical and probable. But something in my gut tells me we are about to bull run to 100k in the next few months.

Nah we’re good, and she’s doing well.

And thank you for the advice, Bama. I become more open to change each day(as you can see in my recent risky decisions here). The more I focus on getting everything in my life in order, the more I become open to the possibility of marriage maaaaybe being an option.

I have light bulb moments with bitcoin that knock me on my arse. It all ties back to one fundamental truth. Money as a concept has existed forever but it was not invented until 2008.

Also I listened to that interview and it was awesome.

Besides bitcoin itself what’s a good strategy. Should I get into dogecoin, etc….

Chainlink is proof that people don't care about fundamentals. Oracles are such a good technology, but they've never really caught on.

With IBIT options becoming available today, I’m struggling to justify holding an excessive amount of BTC in cold storage when I can hold IBIT, sell covered calls and roll the proceeds into MSTR. In a Roth you could do that and rebalance regularly from MSTR back to IBIT without wash sales and tax implications.

Anybody have thoughts?

IBIT holds BTC rather than futures contracts. Redemption rights are likely in cash and not in BTC? It also looks like they're short some BTC, which could mean they've sold some.

I don't see any issue with trading options on either IBIT or MSTR. I'd personally not own the shares of either and prefer to hold the actual asset.

I believe you can hold BTC in a ROTH? That gets a bit cloudy.

It sounds like maybe you want to still hold BTC, but also hold and hedge/speculate around IBIT while adding MSTR. I think you can do this, but I'd personally be leery about liquidating all of my BTC.

You can trade options on your BTC holdings depending on the exchange you use. All of your BTC doesn't need to be in a cold wallet. To me this seems to accomplish the same goal with less risk and less work.

I think my thesis was that MSTR is a really interesting Bitcoin product in that it trades like an equity but its underlying value is in Bitcoin. Also, it seems to produce more alpha than bitcoin and the market when everything is ripping.

So, by selling calls on IBIT/Bitcoin, you harvest a premium and rolling it into a more volatile version of the calls you’re selling. You’re being paid to trade away the alpha of bitcoin and take on the alpha of MSTR.

As far as the difference between bitcoin and IbIt, I own some bitcoin in cold storage but I’m still a bit new to it. I own more IBIT. I had planned to exclusively accumulate the asset itself going forward but now I’m not as sure. I’m curious to hear both sides. Trading options with bitcoin on a potentially shady exchange scares me. I’m sure there’s a perfectly responsible way to do it. I’m just not familiar with it and I’m not going to learn by trial and error.

Regarding “not all of your bitcoin needing to be in a cold wallet”, from my experience this is true as well but everyone argues about this online so it creates doubt.
