so I just discovered DTube, which is basically decentralized YouTube, and I feel like this is the future of the internet. Decentralized file storage stored across nodes and maybe even distributed servers. Not sure the exact structure but at a high level my interest is definitely piqued. In an era where people are concerned about censorship, seems relatively censorship resistant

That's the kind of idea that got me initially researching blockchain and crypto technologies and eventually investing. At the time I only knew about bitcoin, and I understood it, but didn't pay it much attention other than the possibility of scoring some good acid on something like silk road. I didn't really know the full capabilities of blockchain technology until my brother in law compared it loosely to the concept of bittorrent, but for the whole web. That was kind of the aha moment for me and gave me an idea of what this stuff could become and gave me a reference of what people were talking about when they talked about Web 3.0.

Here's a decentralized video streaming service where nodes get paid to transcode on the fly.

Cointelegraph has an article up talking about June 25th.
Largest eth options expiration in 2021.
They say $2200 is the “line in the sand” for the bulls. Expiring around 2400 would be sorta neutral.

You can get paid to loan out some of your GPU resources.
So basically mining

It’s amazing how overpriced GPUs are right now. I’ve signed up for alerts across multiple sites, follow breaking Twitter accounts, and do the Newegg shuffle but still no luck
ETA: then add the uncertainty of whether I’m about to buy a Lite Hash Rate model of the 30 series (they usually don’t specify) and it makes me uneasy

In a sense, but it's not used for mining ofc

I'm still rocking my old 980. I'd love to upgrade to make flight simulator run better, but I ain't paying the jacked up prices.

iron was at $52 just a few days ago and now it's less then .01
that's one of the worst I've ever seen

Only the 3060, 3070ti and 3080ti are "Lite" hash rate models.
They still mine (and decently well at that), but their price/performance isn't as good.
I'd love to be able to nab a 3080ti for my personal rig and move my 3070 over to my mining rig, but paying 2k+ for a 3080ti that only brings in ~$4.50/day is a terrible ROI

what are you going to mine once eth moves to PoS

Whatever becomes the most profitable coin to mine. Hoping there isn't one so mining just dies out and the market gets flooded with video cards. Could finally nab a 3090 sub-MSRP

Other coins and as some have mentioned, GPU render farms / video streaming will still need the GPU power.

I bought 5 3090's at $2250 back in march. Everyone said I was crazy. Last month they were going for $3.3K lol.

Nothing profitable there though. If there's no profitable coin after eth goes, it's going to be a steeeeep decline in video card prices
Really cant wait for that to happen

I got my 3070 back in November for $750 from a scalper, and I thought I might be going crazy paying (what was then) the inflated price
Edit: Also it's crazy that people are still paying the $2600-2700 that 3090s are going for now. That's over a year ROI if the market doesn't pick back up
