What does everyone think is the five year ceiling for Ether? Could it conceivably get to bitcoin type prices?

You need serious hardware and money to start mining BTC.
I'm an investor\operator in industrial ASIC mining farms. Unless you have some anomaly offering free power you would need to pile several million dollars into building a facility and you still will not come close to the ROI you get out of a mega facility. It's an economies of scale business now, you really need 40-50 MW to cover the opex and be competitive on a global scale.

So a heads up, Greyscale is opening the trust so should see pumps this month for sure, atleast historically (i use that word loosely)

well depends on the exchange and price of btc usually.
if i am day trading on coinbase pro, i send to coinbase adn do the free conversion to either the next coin I want or to btc.
if its kucoin, i have to sell.

Do you have a watt/power meter on the outlet for the mining rig? Genuinely curious.

Nah I know the exact wattage output of each card
Posted on 2/3/21 at 2:25 pm to bluebarracuda
If running are they pretty much always operating near max output meaning you can calculate power costs accurately?
Wondering how your cost of power impacts profitability.

That's until ETH 2.0 comes out and we have no coin to mine. Sure, there's the "there's always a coin to mine" crowd out there, but if it's not profitable, there's no point.
We have, at a the minimum, 2 years of mining ETH. They have never once met their schedule for anything. Plus, as I have read it, once 2.0 is here, it isn't a hard turnover. There is a transition period.

There are a number of online calculators, but as people have mentioned, you can use NiceHash and there is a base .10 KW/Hr. You just need to know what your electric cost is. Mine is 0.11. You can even set it up to turn off if profitability drops below a certain point.

Just find whatever GPU you would be running on.
SO that will tell you the estimated profit per day/month/year after your electric

You also have to keep in mind that the profitability calculator uses specific wattage and overclocks, so if you don't tune it correctly, you'll be paying a lot more for power and worse performance
Edit: Also using Excavator, you'll get the wattage output for each card

How bad did the exchange crash during it? Usually by the time the chart is uploaded the pump is done and your left with a bag
Posted on 2/3/21 at 4:22 pm to lsu777
What's longterm outlook on grt? I sold a little at .70 and wanted to get back in around .65, but that never happened
