My little cousin is in for Christmas from west Texas where he's pipelining. He's a welder's asst right now but making almost $15,000 per month. My jaw hit the floor. That's insane. I'm not sure his hourly base but he is getting $700/wk tax free cash per diem

He is working 7 15's a lot (scheduled 7 12's) and is away from his newborn. But that's a good chunk of change for a kid with only a HS education and no acquired trade yet

ETA: if he's making $18/hr base then that gets him to about $15,000 after OT and Double OT plus per diem.

That's working plenty and hard work. But a good way to provide for a family. When your working 7 12's it adds up really fast.

Have lot of friends doing the landman thing and many going to school for it. It is great right now but it is a huge bubble that is going to burst. Wont be for another 5-10 years but it will end. There is maybe 2-3 shale plays left to boom, once the drilling is done most of the landman jobs will be to.

TCHMarine, AChalk and 1-2 others in the midwest. Within 10 years majority of shale plays will be drilled.

Maybe in the sense that the leases will have been obtained and at least one wellper section is drilled to hold the lease. In the Haynesville Shale current estimates require 8 wells per section to drain the formation, assuming the demand for natural gas remains the same it will take decades to fully develop.

I have worked as an operator in a refinery for the past 12 years. The bottom guy in our unit made $88k this year. Four guys made over $160k (they worked ALOT of overtime). The average was about $110k.

My brother in law works in a chemical plant and they make about $60k/year.

My dad has been off shore since he was 17. He makes $90k/year but misses out on alot. We work the same amout of days per year but I see my family everyday. I love shift work. Its nice having time off in the middle of the week. I can really get stuff done with the wife at work and the kids at school.

You seen their year-end pay statements or is this all of you sitting in a control room comparing dicks?

We had a couple hit $140k, most were around $130K. But we had a long turnaround. And I saw it.

Yes......we were comparing dicks and you were the biggest one!! (don't get this confused with had the biggest one)

We all get paid the same per hour. Why would we hide what we make from each other?

U got operator envy don't you?
