Shane Stoops said he joined the protest when he heard about it in its infancy three weeks ago at a bar in Brooklyn. He came to check out what was going on at Zuccotti Park, and hasn't left since.

“I fell in love with this place, they are preaching the right message, equality, peace, everyone should have an equal right to everything. Nobody should have to pay for education, food, nobody should have to be suffering for medical care,” said Stoops.

Stoops is a volunteer at the campsite and helps serve the donated food to protestors.

“I believe with this movement we can open the eyes of the world and show the people that we can live in a society where we don’t have to live in a currency-based economy,” he said. “There’s no better message than what we are preaching here.”

They should all go live in some shithole third world country and start their version of this wonderful place where everyone lives in peace and harmony and shares all of their stuff.
I'm sure that will work out fine for them.

After it was pointed out that they had no point other than being smelly hippies holding signs, they admitted that there was no point and that they just wanted to let the evil bankers know that they were there and they were mad. Several days later, they released this list.

quote:

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.

Saw them yesterday preparing to parade around downtown Houston. eta: Apparently the actual "march" is tomorrow. WOO. Saw that there is actually an "Occupy New Orleans" one too. Hilar.

There are some "wizards" behind the curtain putting on this Occupy show. Ask yourself WHO it might be and why?

The FED could (ultimately) end up taking the blame for all this financial turmoil. I have my issues with the FED, but it is not wholly responsible for this mess and I don't want to see the FED and our monetary system destroyed.

The conspiracy mentality seems like it must be an awfully hard mental burden to bear. Prayers sent.

What I got from that message was they just want to trade goods for goods. Not, "we want to live in an economy without cash."

I think someone dropped the ball on proof reading the hippies' demand list.

Explain. When I said "goods" that would not include cash for the purpose of the post.

I'll be in NY for the SFA trip next week.

The stupid hippies alone make it worth the money.

Whats really sad I that there is enough sentiment against Wall Street right now that this had the potential to actually change things. They could have asked for better regulation on how banks conduct their business or better consumer protections. Instead, these morons decided to have a granola circle jerk and ask for the US to become communist.
