Rumor is that earnings will not be good. It's moving up right now, but is this buy this "buy the rumor, sell the news"?

Considering they already warned results are bad, maybe less pain. But they have definitely been taking a beating since demand has cratered with the crypto crash. Which they don't want to fully admit.

That being said Cathie woods dumped her Nvidia stake, so doing the opposite is a good strategy.

Own way to many shares i bought high. Going to let the dust settle on this one and start bringing my average down. When the settling begins is anyone's guess but my guess is it wont be today. If it craters today may buy a few shares tommorrow morning. Long term not really worried about this one .

They pre-announced that it’ll be ugly. “It cited weaker-than-expected gaming segment sales and a difficult macroeconomic environment, while adding that “challenging market conditions” are expected to continue in the fiscal third quarter.”

Personally I hope it’s a shite show and scares everyone away from my baby. Nvda is my largest holding by far with a very low cost basis and I’m riding this thing for another 20+ years as best in class in everything they do with AI, cloud, data centers, auto over taking gaming significantly in the future. I’m fantasizing about an ugly mid September where I can plow some cash reserves into this.

I believe in NVDA long term. I'm just trying to decide if I want to go short with some options prior to ER

Bought some puts. ER usually drops the price even if good. Not saying every time but most of the time.

What’s your strike and expiratory date? Looking at September 2 $170 puts.

I added more at $164 tonight after earnings (cost basis was $155). If it falls to $158.5 I will be adding more and adding even more if goes back to $155. I am looking to hold for at least 12 months.

Good one! Expected move according to options pricing is about +/-11.57. Did you peek?

I’m holding a basket of short 155 strike Aug26 puts. Willing to take long shares if they get assigned.

Just remembered your post. So, are you still holding these cash rich babies? And check the NVDA news after the bell. It’s taking a hard leg down as I type. Export restrictions are coming that will restrict exports of its A100 and forthcoming H100 data center chips. Hope you held on, cause those long puts just got fatter.

Thankfully my short 155 puts expired worthless last Friday. Nice to see people making money on the same underlying with opposite strategies.

Haha. Came here to check his put expiration as well. I know I would have sold a while ago because those short exp options can turn on you with the quickness, but it’s always slightlyyyy frustrating knowing you may have left 50k on the table.

I banked +500% after open that coulda shoulda woulda been 2500% on weeklies I bought yesterday. I had been eyeing mid September but I’ll start to slowly nibble on shares/sell some puts in the main acct since the china chips thing dog piled on top the other negative news.

I sold it this morning. Tired of fighting that battle. I used the loss to offset some gains on ABBV.

I own and am down just over 50%. Not selling as I see them as a fundamental player in the space.

Will likely buy more on dips
