I have a few 401k's and one state retirement plan from when I worked for LSU hospital. I would like to roll them into an IRA somewhere to keep better track of them.

Where is the best place to start an IRA and why is it the best?

Another question, my current employer does not contribute at all to my 401 but I am requires to contribute a minimum of 3%. Beings they do not match, should I continue to put only 3% and put the rest of my contributions into a Roth?

TIA

Next time you are buying lump for the BGE walk next door or Vanguard would be my advice.

What makes vanguard better than the rest?

My personal experience:

easy on line set up/rollover process
good interactive website
easy to set up payroll deferals with automatic deposit
index funds have extremely low expense ratios

I think expenses/fees are low for Vanguard and they have good index/mutual funds.

ETA: I still think Fidelity is up there with Vanguard though. They have a large selection of funds.
