@Tasha
Take everything I'm about to say with a grain of salt because I've done very mediocre on the tests but I have improved with each one so I can tell you what has worked for me.
I read the textbook, highlight all of the definitions, watch the lectures and take notes early in the week. From there, I literally watch each lecture 2-4 more times, because I am starting to believe that the textbook is truly supplementary and only "fills in the gaps" on what he doesn't cover in the lecture.
The hardest part is paying attention to everything he says, so I find myself rewinding a lot as I am listening to make sure I get it. I watch the lectures the day before the test, and directly before the test. After watching them, I read the PowerPoint and read over my notes. This is what gives me a good understanding of the content - going into the tests, I am as confident as I will be.
Then I open the test, and immediately get depressed. This step is optional, but it has happened every time. The key that I've found is to truly READ the questions multiple times. Read them out loud if you have to, because his goal is to trick you, not to test your understanding of the content. If you are 100% certain of the answer, mark it - if you're not, move on to the next question. Do this until you finish all questions, and then go back to the questions you've missed. For the remaining questions, you will probably be picking between two answers that you think can be right. Read the question as many times as it takes for you to understand what you think he is asking. Pick your remaining answers, and if you have time, go back and reread the questions/your answer selections. I never have time to do this, but it has worked for me in prior classes, so it's best to do it if you can.
Hopefully this helps - I can't say I am doing great in the class because I'm not...at all, but I have been slowly improving, so hopefully it helps. Best of luck.

Solid advice @tank. Very similar to my approach except for the depressed part, lol. I don’t get depressed, I get pissed..... Spend all that time and know the info inside and out, and still struggle because of his games.

@zach
hahaha, pissed off is definitely a better way of putting it. It's insanely frustrating to study for a test and have the question rely on his interpretation of a word (in a question, nonetheless), rather than the actual material he supposedly taught.

Serenity now.

Same. I’m getting B’s on Khan’s tests. I wrote a 5 page, single spaced paper that I thought was really good and got a 76. Now I’m stuck on Paper 2. This is my first class, and I feel like it has to be the hardest, otherwise there’s no way I could double up. The papers are awfully hard IMO.

The consensus in the history of this board seems to back you up. I'm also in my first two classes at LSUS, ACCT 701 and ECON 705, neither class is that hard and easy enough to double up. No writing in either class, ECON doesn't have proctored exams, and the proctored exams in ACCT are easy if you take the time to hammer home the practice work. Heck, the professor is basically giving everyone the answers in the zoom sessions...

Shaughnessy. Baroquen wrote up an amazing review of the course back on page 350 and couldn't have been more accurate in the course expectations and description.

@knight....I got a 66 on the paper!! Ha. Got ya beat. And yes, this is my 8th class and has been the trickiest by far, and I had a 4.0 coming into it. I’m trying to grind out the second activity but it is very difficult, he doesn’t really teach or cover how to do most of the “analyses” he is asking us to do. Hoping to scrape by with a C....

Baroqen, I am currently struggling through Dr. Linds class as we speak. This experience has been terrible. The first exam is this week. Not excited about it.

Wish I could help you, but I never took Lind. Unfortunately, from what I've read on the boards, the feedback has been very negative.
Gibbs appears to be the best choice. I took Lin, not Lind. Lin's class was 3 exams based on trivial information. You were able to have a 2 sided cheat sheet. Basically, having the right definitions on that cheat sheet made or broke you for the test.

His exams are verbatim the questions and definitions at the end of each chapter. If you type them all into Excel and sort alphabetically, you’re golden.

OMG. This is my last class, and I'm not sure if I actually will graduate.
Thank you for a thorough response. I do the same: read, listen to the lectures, take notes, and I got a first D in my life. I will try to change my strategy and spend less time with the textbook and more time with his lecture.
The paper for activity 2 is FUN! I'm answering question 3 and praying that five pages of single space will be enough. I wish I could find these people who receive 25 on his exams.
All the best!

I’m in MKT 701 with Khan and failed my test. Does anybody know how to study for his tests?
IN addition to what everyone else is saying, I would advise downloading the audio book "VangoNotes for Principles of Marketing 12th edition by Kotler and Armstrong." Find the audio section that relates to your module (there were typically two topics per module last semester) and listen to them a couple times. Each section is roughly 6-8 minutes with a few practice quizzes included. I stumbled on this by chance and it really aligns with Khan's class. Not sure if he uses it as a reference or if that's just how Marketing works. But i even found some of the practice quizzes from this audio book on his quizzes. Best of luck. I know it's a tough course.

Trying to get caught up on 400 pages.
But i just finished my application and plan on starting in July. Hopefully this thread will provide me with some insight and help.
Looks like I may be able to double up to start.

I got a 94 on the paper, but have been averaging high c's low b's on the test. I'm doing exactly what Tank said. Skim over the book chapters, but intently listen and study the lectures/power points several times during the week, then again immediately before the exam.
Anyone in Khan's class have any idea about q2 on activity 2? I've done 1 and 3, but have no idea where to start on q2.

AP1 is the only time I can get ISDS 705 Gibbs, any ISDS 730(Loughrin) and MADM 760(Wyatt). Is it going to be possible to do all 3 courses stacked? For reference, I'm in my 2nd session and have taken 2 courses both of them.

Different teacher. My instructor is a female. On top of that tests are proctored and no other windows can be open.

I’m so excited. I ordered my “Forever LSU” class ring and I get to participate in the ring ceremony on the Baton Rouge campus November 4.. anyone else going?
LINK
“A night with Mike”....having the rings kept in the cage with Mike the night before the ceremony.... how fun and original.
Hey TigerChick or anyone...
Has anyone else gone to the Ring Ceremony on the BR campus? Ring Ceremony is NOV 10 in BR and Graduation is DEC 20 in Shreveport. If I'm not able to make the Graduation trip in DEC, I was thinking about doing a mini-vacation in NOV and include the ring ceremony in lieu of graduation. Not sure if they have other activities going on before/after the ceremony. Thoughts?
