re: LSUS Online MBA Reviews

"LSUS is clearly going to have to focus on individual attention and not becoming a diploma factory. A divide seems to exist between the professors that can successfully handle a large class and those who can't. Best practices need to be implemented to create a more consistent experience."
The reputation of our degrees depend on it. If the school becomes known as a diploma factory, my MBA loses a great deal of credibility, which, in my business, is very important.

FYI to those in FIN 701. Vines has extended the window to take Exam 1 to Sunday @ noon.

I feel the same way. I really want them to keep the standards high. The LSU name is very respected nationally and I want it to stay that way.

It is nearing noon on Thursday and still do not have a grade for Module 1's assignment. How long has anyone had to wait to get a weekly assignment grade (for any class)?
Same here, where are the grades. How can we submit early for Turnitin purposes when we have no feedback. Not sure if you are in Williams section, but its a train wreck, the emails are migraine inducing with all of the format changes.

she uses highlighting, bold, underlines, combinations of all of those, throughout her emails, syllabus, everything. Makes it hard to read, and completely defeats the purpose of using any of those things.

fishee2- I honestly cannot read her emails or the pages and pages of highlighted, bold, capitalized and underlined text for simple instructions.

Regarding the recent post about ISDS 715
I'm In the class too. I ordered the PMBOK (PMP Book) as I do not like how the University has headed toward the no textbook thing - I'm old school. The power point slides are straight from there and if you have that, the flow and organization makes a lot of sense. There is a PDF version of the PMBOK as well that you can order. But, you shouldn't have to order that for the material to make sense or seem like a logical order, so I get it.
I agree, absolutely no interaction from the instructor and no discussion board forums. I feel completely isolated in this class. With that said, the course subject matter is not difficult - pretty straight forward and just study the slides. But, I have not received my grade back from the first written assignment so my thoughts might change, haha.
Have you taken ISDS 705? I am taking that next and it appears that there are two professors to choose from: Lin or Gibbs. Any thoughts or preferences on who I should take?

Hi Becky92, I just responded to Aubrebelman about the ISDS 715 and thought I would respond to you too. The instructor takes the material straight from the PMBOK which is the source for the PMP certification. He follows the PMBOK to the T and his power points are straight from there so If you get the PMBOK it makes the class a whole lot more organized. Once I got the book, it all made sense on how it was laid out. You can get it in PDF form too. This course is all about the PMP cert so if that is something that interests you, then it may be of interest. The work load seems to be good. A quiz every week and an assignment every week like writing a charter or scope, then a final. Seems easy enough if you follow what the PMBOK advises as far as writing. If you study the slides you will do quite well on the quizzes. There are no trick questions. Hope this helps.

Thanks - I am new to the program and to this forum. Appreciate the feedback :)

Thanks for the clarification hranyone. I think I got spoiled by Meeks, so teachers that don't interact scare me away. In terms of your question about ISDS 705, assuming the format doesn't change, Lin is by far an easy A. I have average technology skills and I was able to get an "A" without ever studying and by just utilizing the pdf search function of the ebook. In my honest opinion, even with my limited technology skills, most of the topics covered were basic, nothing super technical and hands on like Cloud architecture, Developing, Service Management, etc. BTW, welcome to this forum, I'm pretty new too, I started last session and good luck in ISDS 715!

madm701 (knotts) -- my reflection 1 grade showed up this evening. I received an entire paragraph of feedback on how I could improve my video and score.
The grading seems lenient. I knew when I turned it in that I could have made a stronger video if I'd spent another couple of hours re-shooting it, but I wasn't dinged very badly for less than stellar eye contact.

Wondering how I am going to finish my paper this week with a sprained thumb.

Hi becky92 thank for the info for ISDS 705! Much appreciated. I just had Meeks too and the constant communication from him was very good - a little too much at times haha. Best of luck to you too in ISDS 715!

What a tough transition after you take ISDS 705 to go to James MKT 701. Ive already put in twice as much effort in the first week and a half of MKT as I did the entire course for ISDS. MKT is really the first class in the course I am disappointed with and it is my seventh course. I feel it is too much information scattered and pulled from too many directions to come away with a feeling that I actually got something from the course.
ditto everything said here. I'm hoping I can get through this first forum assignment and start to rally the mental troops for 5 more weeks, but it's been a struggle thus far.

Looking back, I really thought MKT 701 was one of the best courses in the program. It was incredibly demanding but that is to be expected of graduate level courses.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed a finishing it and a breeze course with ISDS 705 but I would not want all courses to be like that.

I just took the exam, first thing on Friday morning so I will have time to study for Module 2 on the weekends. The exam is not hard, it is actually easier than I thought it would be.
