MKT with no assigned professor yet, and a new instructor for ISDS 702. Trying to enjoy this week off, but I do like to start at least read a syllabus by the end of this week and neither class has any interaction from a teacher yet.

I read through the syllabus for MADM 701 with Knotts. Looks like a fair amount of work each week.

This afternoon a student emailed me the sylabbuses from both Knotts and Williams for MADM 701 to get my opinion. For me, I'd choose Williams.
For one, I took it from her last year so know what to expect and know I was able to earn an A. And two, her grading is more heavily based on the writing assignments. In this MBA program, I was much more confident in the written work, as opposed to the exams, which had many formats and variables, including time constraints.

Snake Eyes indeed, both sections are being taught by James. Guessing since there was only a 100+ students in the TBA section, they consolidated. Glad I didn't double up this semester...
EDIT: there are now 364 students in the second section. I guess James is overseeing both.

Ugh I see James as the instructor now as well, for the TBA session.

@socal77
For MADM 701 w/ Williams. What were the tests like? She really doesn't describe them in her syllabus at all. Thanks!

Hi fishee2, from what I remember her tests were multiple choice. I think I earned in the 80's on most and some in 90's. I just made sure to ace the writing portion and it got my grade to an A.

I don’t see a syllabus yet, nor an option for a textbook for James. Thoughts?

She mentioned to me that there is no text for this class that all materials will be provided by her.

They are multiple choice and appear to have been generated by WileyPlus. I did a lot of the practice questions within WileyPlus and it was fairly representative of the weekly exams.
I would try to max out your potential on the exams and not rely on the papers. There is some inconsistency with grading due to the various contract instructors who review and grade these papers. I think there were 10 or more but at I had at least 2 different instructors grading my papers.
I pulled out an A but not without a fair amount of effort.

I saw that as well, why on earth would she not at least post the syllabus? Also, while no cost materials are a good thing, having them throttled to me without the ability to read ahead is frustrating.
Having initiative and wanting to be proactive is not encouraged in this program from what I have seen.

Thank you, that's encouraging. MKT701 is only my 3rd class, so way too early to become disillusioned.

Six courses in and none of my instructors have done this. The only similar instance I've run into is they won't open modules early. I didn't have James for Marketing though.
