just got my renewal notice with state farm. Home policy jumping from 2k to 2600 because of cost to rebuild is 280k On a home valued at 220k.

Im north of I-12 in Covington city limits.

Who should I be getting quotes from?

I'd prefer to move auto as well.

Thanks in advance!

Try Farm Bureau. I’ve had a good experience there, including price, after bundling our home and auto. Also, customer service has been very helpful the one time we made a claim when my wife hit a deer a year ago.

I 2nd Farm Bureau of Louisiana. I have auto/home with them. I have shopped around multiple times and they have not been beat in 15+ years.

I believe homeowner rates have gone up across the board in LA this year. You may be able to find a lower rate, but it won't be the same as last year's renewal.

Don't confuse your cost to rebuild with your market value.

Just about all of south Louisiana sucks for homeowners insurance options. $2600 for a $280k policy is not terrible, considering the competition. Definitely shop around with an independent agent and stay away from State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual. Also stay away from Demotech-rated companies.

Where do I find out a company is Demotech-rated?

Thanks.

Lemonade. Look them up. They wildly overestimated the cost to rebuild my home and still beat the next best estimate by a few hundred dollars.

Lemonade and QuickInsured should be your first two calls.

Can you get USAA somehow?

If so do it.

Go through a broker, they don't make money unless they can find you a better deal, commission comes from the carrier.

Most can quote 10-15 different carriers and tell you which one is best
