Keeping monthly bill receipts

Do you guys keep monthly payment receipts on file for stuff like utility bills, student loan payments, car payments etc? I've always scanned a copy of my payment confirmation and stored it on a cloud drive, but it seems unnecessary seeing as how the payment history for all of my accounts can be found on each respective website. Im getting tired of scanning everything each month and want to make sure it would be OK to stop doing it.

All of my bills are epaid. The bank keeps that on file for years.

I'm getting to his point as well. What few bills I still get paper copies of are on an autodraft so they just get filed away so I can shred them in a few years. The only time I write checks anymore is for the babysitter and housekeeper, so there are electronic records for every other bill I pay.

I've got a buddy who does this for the sole purpose of having an accurate # of sales tax he's paid rather than using an estimate on his return. I can't imagine it saves him maybe a couple hundred dollars - not worth my time.

We keep every bill from every company that sends us one, but pay everything online and write the date the bill was paid online on the actual bill sent.

Just go on the website and "print" as a PDF

Why does he need to know how much sales tax he pays in a years time?

Why? That just seems like a waste of time and paper.

It's an itemized deduction on your federal return. Most people just use an estimate - he wants to be precise. Like I said - waste of time.
