Short squeeze
A short squeeze is a rapid increase in the price of a stock that occurs when there is a lack of supply and an excess of demand for the stock.

less sellers = less supply.
when supply < demand then price will go up.
if price goes up..and short sellers are forced to buy to close their short positions... then there is even more demand
..which means that prices rises more rapidly or gaps.
now does that increase pressure on short seller thing on twitter actually work... idk

That's why I was questioning that logic. You can't have a squeeze without short sellers. Again, if the equity is so undervalued wouldn't more sellers be a positive so that you can buy at a discount and welcome the shorts going into Q4 ER, thus inviting the squeeze at a lower cost basis?

??
who said it was undervalued?
this is the twit (not mine, btw)
it says what is says..
i can only speculate on the intent of the twit... but i assume it was to maximize that current run (at the expense of folks short the stock)
i dont see see anything there about *not* having short sellers..or anything about buying at discount or a Q4 earnings call.

It's been insane. Someone gonna say price target of $600 for the end of the year and it's gonna hit that in a week.

You're up over $210 a share so I'd say no.

It's freaking Insane. Some dummy trader that was shorting it made up a news story about Tesla's accelerating on their own over the weekend. It blew up in his face.

Might hit $600 before lunch.

Posted on 1/22/20 at 12:01 pm to rallyTiger

You should short it

without even close to the same revenue numbers as some of the major automakers in this country, tesla has a market cap double GM and triple ford.
tesla HAS to deliver in the first couple of quarters, right now it's a waiting game on shorting it
or millennials are just going to keep dumping money illogically into tesla because of the constant elon jerkoff session

I wonder at what point the broken record will no longer be audible.

Tesla should not be considered a going-concern at this rate

This stock is certainly confounding. No earnings, terrible current ratio (more current liabilities than assets), so the valuation is all on future potential. It scares people like me who are accounting types, but Amazon went for years without turning a profit. The big question for me is whether or not GM, Ford, Toyota etc. go big time into electric. Then what happens when there is real competition in that niche market. And while millennials may like Tesla, none of them can afford one.

But it's also a fair question to ask if it's too late for them to compete with Tesla in this market. We've been hearing for 5 years that once this and that car come out, they'll crush Tesla. And every single one of them have failed pretty miserably.
quote:I'm sure Tesla would be more than happy to lose a little market share here and there if that means the market becomes less of a niche market. They're dominating the market so badly right now that we just can't assume the big boys will just come in and take over, they're truly really far behind.
Then what happens when there is real competition in that niche market.
