These discussions are always hilarious on here. There are about three people on this board who understand economics, and the rest of you spew embarrassingly ignorant takes constantly.

I know, remember those fricking idiots that try to say BTC would go to 50k?

Remember about 8 years ago when that lunatic WikiTiger was on here trying to shill make beleive money called Bitcoin? What an Idiot!! If he was so smart then why isnt he on here??

Unless he can find the code or set up a backup somewhere, sadly there is nothing he can do.

Then how do you hold them? No code, no BTC

I remember all those original conversations. What BTC was supposed to be then and what it is supposed to be now aren’t even in the same universe. It’s at $50k despite having no real use as an everyday currency, even though that was the original pitch 8 years ago.

How does it have no use? You can send money or scan a QR code and pull atm cash worldwide.

Exactly - Without the code, there's nothing I can do. Scoured every notebook and retraced back to every device. Think it was iPad (gave to parents) or iPhone (gave to niece) and they were of course both wiped.

I didn’t say it has no use, I simply said it has no use as a currency. People aren’t spending it, they’re buying it and holding it. That’s not a currency.

I've been in Bitcoin since November through Robinhood. Now, I'm convinced that I'm a long term holder and am considering buying through an exchange.

A few questions: I got hit with taxes through Robinhood for my 2020 gains, am I going to be better off from a tax standpoint to own actual coins? I suppose it doesn't matter either way if I don't sell.

As a LT holder, give me advantages - I need to get a wallet, right?

I could send you bitcoin for free, instantly but that would be retarded

bitcoin serves as a much better currency narrative for people in poverty countries where their money is being debased ~100% per year

No, BTC is taxed the same whether it is owning coins on an exchange or the "paper btc" on Robinhood.

You can store on exchanges until you get a large enough amount where you'd feel more comfortable on a cold storage wallet. Some here store on websites that pay you interest on your coins. I wouldn't trust a large portion of my stack on that. I do have a little on Celsius though.

exactly, its used as a currency in other countries all the time, just doesn make sense for us to use it currently.

i love how its proven itself over the last decade yet we have idiots saying...well its not being used like yall said it would. How in the frick is that the argument now against BTC???

its laughable.

So, is there an advantage to say, Coinbase, as compared to Robinhood.
