IRS Child Tax Credit Deposits

Did anyone else get an unexpected direct deposit from the IRS today? I opted out of the monthly prepayments for the child tax credits back in July. I did not receive any money in August but woke up to a direct deposit of $250 today. I logged onto the IRS portal today and confirmed I did opt out of the prepayments. Does anyone have any insight as to what this may be since I already opted out?

That whole deal is so screwed up. I got a letter earlier in the year saying I would receive some small amount. However, I have never gotten a single deposit or check. I am fine with it, but they better not give me any shite when I take the full deduction on my taxes.

I opted out and received deposits in August and September. Both amounts are different. No clue how they're calculating any of this.

My July and September deposits were different amounts as well. I guess this is government efficiency at its finest.

Got my direct deposit in July, a check in the mail last month and a direct deposit this morning

Got one in July and nothing since..no checks in the mail and no direct deposit like the first time. I’m fine not receiving it. I just don’t want their incompetent asses to tell me I received it come April 2022

i opted out and still got it today and in july. shite is pissing me the frick off. i dont understand why its an act of congress to tell the IRS to stop putting money in my account.

Download the Voyager app and put that money into USDC. USDC holds the price $1 forever and ever and pays 10% interest. Pull that money + interest out when it's time to pay taxes.

I put $330 from July into Bitcoin and it’s worth over $500 now. I bought Eth today with the $250. In the grand scheme of things the extra money now won’t matter as much when I actually file taxes. I just want the IRS to be consistent. I guess that is too much to ask for.

If you are married note that both husband and wife must create accounts and opt out. If only one parent opts out, partial payments will continue to be made.

I got $1,9xx deposited on Monday from the IRS. No freakin' clue what it is for, no explanation that I've seen.
