ou're a beta provider needing to get ring to "make her happy". you think she'll get more wet after getting a ring from a certified maninga?
Masculine men make frickin money and provide.
I'd love to see the woman you are swooning with your frugal Machismo. LMAO.
"Here baby smell my man musk, its worth 1000 diamonds in spades, and here's a fat dead deer that I killed with my bare hands out back. how wet are you now?"

Hungryone what's your thoughts on different stones? I mean, Kate Middleton wears a sapphire - it's like 1,000cts - but still.
All comes down to what she likes imo.
Yep, my thoughts on stones don't matter. Hers do. I've seen gorgeous sapphires, opals, rubies, etc in engagement rings. I look at 'em and think, damn, I'd get bread dough all over that sh*t and be cleaning it for a week. Or break the setting while wrestling with my 1968 Craftsman table saw (no guard, no safety features on THAT bad boy, LOL). I can say from personal experience that it's a bitch getting Interlux spar varnish out of engraved jewelry. My wedding band is low-profile w/bezel set diamonds specifically chosen to be as minimally crud/dirt catching as possible.
It's 2015. She should get what she likes & what works for her, as opposed to some giant rock he picks out because he thinks bigger is better, LOL.

Didn't go into the purchase looking for a credit card to out the ring on. Found the stone and setting and got my price to buy cash. I was then offered a 0% no fee for 12 month card to put it on. Couldn't pass it up. Really helped build my credit as well.

You think money making machines like J Howard Marshall and Warren Buffet are masculine? You think chicks would want to bang these guys? If chicks associate with these rich men for money and not the pleasure of sex.
Chicks want to bang you the moment they see you. Maybe if you can bang chicks without providing for them i.e, buying flowers(lol) and paying expensive dinners, you would understand women better.
Look at the bad boys and the nice guys. Women want to bang bad boys and not the nice guys(always finish last). Do you see bad boys buying them shite or "being a gentlemen"? It's about the laws of attraction which is a foreign concept to you.

Still can't figure out whose alter you are.
When people like you post I always wonder if your whole shtick is a troll job and is it really that fun playing this role on the interwebs, or do you really believe these things?
I don't know...

You should've just posted a picture of Pete Rose himself. I can't think of a more perfect username to match his posts, at least in this thread. But I doubt the real Pete is very frugal.

DO NOT buy an engagement ring. Waste of money and it symbolizes nothing about your relationship or future success. Young women today have been brainwashed and are trying to outdo each other. It is a contest of who can get the largest ring. Don't participate in this side show.
Buy her a nice diamond wedding band when you do marry.

Just stop. I agree that they are overpriced and it's a money grab, but in the grand scheme of things, it's really not that big of a deal to drop a few grand on engagement rings. You'll still be able to retire at 62.5, you'll still be able to get that shiny new truck every 5.6 years, and your 2.3 kids will still get in to his slightly over priced private school.
Making the vast majority of women happy and giving them something they can show off to their family and friends is not that big of a deal in the big picture.
Move on...
$25k and up weddings....then we can have a conversation.

This whole thread is kind of a litmus test on conventionality. If you and your intended feel compelled to do the "rote" things and care deeply about fitting in, buy a rock. If you and she don't feel any pressure to conform, spend the $6k (or whatever) on a series of incredible vacations. Diamond money can buy you a month in Paris, a couple weeks sailing through the Mediterranean on a charter, several hella ski trips, or a long sojourn in Vietnam, India, or Thailand.
Experiences are more valuable than things.

Completely agree but most women, especially in their 20's and first marriage, like a nice shiny rock to show off.

People spend money on all kind of stupid shite. Spending money on a something that will hopefully stay on her finger for the rest of her life isn't that big of a deal if you can afford it IMO. Think about how little 5k is when people are buying cars.

What a pitiful beta attitude. "I must buy a shiny rock to make my woman happy".
Wait till she dumped your arse and see if that diamond means forever.

Typing beta is beta.

Worrying and mentioning the Topic is silly.
